Michelle Obama will appear on Letterman during GOP convention

First lady Michelle Obama will appear on “The Late Show with David Letterman” on Aug. 29, CBS announced Wednesday.

Mitt Romney’s running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), is scheduled to deliver his speech to the GOP nominating convention that evening. While Obama’s TV appearance likely won’t conflict with broadcast coverage of the convention, the first lady’s media tour could mark another spotlight grab by President Obama's campaign during a week traditionally reserved for the Republican Party.
