Sanders: 'Absolutely Ridiculous' To Ask If Trump Has Considered Stepping Down

Source: Talking Points Memo

By Kate Riga | April 10, 2018 3:07 pm

At the White House press briefing on Tuesday, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders dismissed a question about if President Donald Trump has considered stepping down.

“No and I think that’s an absolutely ridiculous question,” she said to American Urban Radio Networks’ April Ryan before moving on to another reporter.

Sanders also went to great lengths to separate the President from the FBI’s Monday raid of the properties of his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. “This doesn’t have anything to do with the President and I would refer you to Michael Cohen and his attorney,” she said. “When it comes to matters of the special counsel and dealings with the President, we’ve been fully cooperative.”

But I think it speaks volumes that we've reached the point now that that question was just seriously asked at a press conference.

That we're now asking questions like that OPENLY. That they're so broad-based, and widely and publicly uttered by now, yep. It speaks volumes alright!

As Nancy Reagan once warned Don Regan, who at the time was her husband's chief-of-staff (who she thought was serving him poorly), "people are talking." He was soon out, btw. She's credited with sending his head rolling down the hall.

But there was nothing ridiculous about that question, nothing at all.

Instead of living in your echo chamber, Sarah, how about plugging into the 70% of Americans who happen to want legitimate responses to viable questions.

he is trying to outmaneuver the Special Counsel so Trump can decide what is legal and what isn't.

It's not going to work. The law is the law, it's what America is founded upon.
