McCain says Trump 'emboldened' Syria to launch chemical attack

Source: MSN/New York Daily News

Sen. John McCain said President Trump’s comments suggesting he wants to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria “emboldened” President Bashar al Assad’s regime to commit the recent chemical attack that killed at least 40 people in the war-torn country.

“President Trump last week signaled to the world that the United States would prematurely withdraw from Syria,” the Republican senator from Arizona said in a statement Sunday.

“Bashar Assad and his Russian and Iranian backers have heard him, and emboldened by American inaction, Assad has reportedly launched another chemical attack against innocent men, women and children, this time in Douma,” McCain continued.

The Senate Armed Services chairman urged Trump to retaliate against Assad the way he did last year when he ordered a missile strike on a Syrian airbase.

Gosh. Talk about mixed messages. Sometimes Trump wants to partner with Assad and Russia. Sometimes he wants to bomb the crap out of Syria. Red light. Green light.

Trump: ‘I want to get out’ of Syria

President Donald Trump on Tuesday again voiced support for pulling U.S. troops out of Syria, saying his administration would make a decision on the matter “very quickly.”

“I want to get out. I want to bring our troops back home,” the president said during a multilateral news conference with the leaders of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

He added: “Sometimes it’s time to come back home. And we’re thinking about that very seriously.”

The president said the “primary mission” for keeping a military presence in the country, which remains besieged by a multifaceted war, was the defeat of the Islamic State. Given that this task is “almost completed,” Trump said, his administration will look to make a final decision on the status of U.S. troops in the region “very quickly.”

By announcing his plans, and by enabling putin, so once again they did as they pleased showing how weak trump really is now. Putin and assaud are committing war crimes, so why is he not attacking both of them? weak and incompetent.

They heard he didn't care anymore so could use chemical weapons again without problems.
