Trump is open to short-term DACA deal, White House tells GOP leaders

Source: The Washington Post

By Mike DeBonis and Josh Dawsey March 14 at 12:09 PM

White House officials have told key Republican leaders on Capitol Hill that President Trump is open to cutting a deal in an upcoming spending bill to protect young immigrants from deportation in exchange for border wall funding, according to four GOP officials briefed on the talks.

The offer could represent a significant shift for Trump, who in January insisted on a much broader package of immigration restrictions in exchange for any protections for “dreamers” — the young immigrants brought to the United States illegally as children, some of whom have been protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that Trump canceled in September.

Now, with the DACA cancellation tied up in the courts and no clear path forward for standalone immigration legislation, the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the negotiations, said Trump is warming to a simpler deal that would allow his administration to quickly start work on a U.S.-Mexico border wall — a centerpiece of his 2016 presidential campaign.

One idea under consideration is a three-year extension of the DACA program in exchange for three years of wall funding,a GOP official said. This official said talks were fluid.

And can do nothing but lie, and try to screw people over. We'll have the House soon, and by Nov. the Senate will be also in play. Then we'll see DACA kids protected with a good bill, not another scam from Trump and the RepubliCONS. They just can't be trusted.

to begin with, and not say anything about DACA to begin w/, and get the immigration laws updated as they should be, legally, letting Congress maybe do their job (the gop more specifically), while maintaining the status quo. I think now w/ the crap tRUMP pulled on DACA folks and you add all the DACA families and friends negatively impacted by tRUMP's stupid action, they are finding out that millions more impacted and all going to democrat folks.
