Report: New Zealand Diplomat Told Dems 'Get Your S**t Together Or We Will All Die'

Source: Talking Points Memo

By Matt Shuham | March 14, 2018 11:58 am

After an opinion contributor for the Hill speculated that “a Sanders-Warren ticket could win big in 2020? last week, New Zealand’s second-ranking diplomat in the United States was blunt: “No it couldn’t. Please get your shit together or we will all die.”

That response from diplomat Caroline Beresford, reported by the Kiwi site Newsroom and flagged by the Hill, wasn’t her only rebuke.

Separately, according to Newsroom, Beresford wrote in response to the post that Democrats had “learned nothing” and “If this is what they have against Trump we should be planning for the eight years.”

“Yes I did send those tweets and realised very quickly that they were inappropriate, which is why I deleted them,” Beresford told Newsroom, which published screenshots of two of the tweets.

we have trouble getting our shit together.

Will Rogers from the late 1920s/1930s "I'm not a member of an organized political party, I'm a Democrat."

That said, I tend to agree. While I like a lot of his political ideas, I think Sanders would have gone the way of George McGovern and Walter Mondale in the general election when some of his past was brought up and amplified through the RW media megaphone.

Who are the 3rd party spoilers in the Republican Party, like Nader, Stein etc that run to divide Democrats?

Are there any?

Moderate Republican who broke off and ran as an independent against Reagan and Carter. I think he ended up with 5 or 6% - I think that was the only time my father did not vote Democratic. He was discouraged by Carter (too religious in his eyes) and was scared of Reagan, so voted Anderson.

But, the crazies, kooks and deplorables are all registered Republicans. A large amount of those KKK members have an (R) after their name, and "militia" types like Timothy McVeigh are usually registered Republicans as well. (The numbers in the American Nazi Party are kind of immaterial, like Socialists and Communists are on the left)

If Democrats don't like the Democratic candidate, they have a semi viable national alternative in the Greens. In my state of Connecticut, they also have the Working Families Party.

that RW third parties don't get many votes. Those would be Constitution party, American Independent party, Reform, etc.

The Libertarian party is actually the largest 3rd party, not Green. L could be a spoiler for GOP on economic issues.

L's are Koch funded as was the Tea Party.

Maybe that influence is why he voted No.
Oil regulations & all that the Kochs adhere to.
Prhaps that is why the NO vote on Magnitsky.
Had to please the one's who invested in him.

That would reveal a lot.

I prefer to concentrate on the 2018 elections. We have plenty of time to determine the 2020 presidential ticket after the mid-term elections. And I'm confident that new leadership will emerge by then.

but the last I heard Elizabeth Warren is a Democrat. We are not supposed to be disparaging Democrats on this site. The New Zealand diplomat remarks were made concerning an Op-Ed written in the Hill and seemed really over dramatic to me. The Hill flagged her and she deleted.

Thus is not truth but someone’s opinion on future races. Warren has said she does not want to run as it stand right now.Sanders and Warren just did a live blog together and somebody wrote an OPINION Piece in the Hill. The NZ woman’s response was censored and had nothing to do with facts.

and RUN on them.

The "centrists" run on vague platitudes and people's hopes that they will do better than they promise in the campaign.

Then once elected, do as little as possible to earn re-election.

Worse, a sizable chunk of the centrists think re-igniting the Cold War or even starting a hot one with Russia and/or China isn't a bad idea--or more precisely, they don't care what kind of idea it is, they'll just do it because their deep pocket patrons tell them too.
