Obama to media: Romney’s whole campaign is based on lies
By Greg Sargent
In a surprise appearance before reporters at the White House just now, Obama made a striking, if perhaps long overdue, charge: He pushed back on GOP claims he’s running a dirty campaign by arguing that Romney’s entire campaign is based on flat out lies.

Obama was questioned sharply by a reporter who pointed to the Priorities USA ad featuring the dead woman and the Obama campaign’s pressure on Romney to release his tax returns, and asked whether he regretted his campaign’s tone. Obama responded, in part:

“I don’t think that Governor Romney is somehow responsible for the death of the woman that was portrayed in that ad. But keep in mind, this is an ad that I didn’t approve; I did not produce; and as far as I can tell, has barely run. I think it ran once. Now, in contrast, you’ve got Governor Romney creating as a centerpiece of his campaign this notion that we’re taking work requirement out of welfare. Which every single person here who’s looked at it says, it’s patently false...

“Everybody who’s looked at this says what Governor Romney is saying is absolutely wrong. Not only are his Super PACs running millions of dollars worth of ads making this claim; Governor Romney himself is approving this and saying it on the stump. So the contrast I think is pretty stark. They can run the campaign that theyw ant; but the truth of the matter is, you can’t just make stuff up. That’s one thing you learn as president of the United States. You get called into account.”

They will not stop telling lies. Arguing 'he said, she said' won't help. He should say "I cut $714 bil in fraud and waste from Medicare without touching one dime of benefits." Then, every time rumnuts says $714 bil, he is confirming what the president is saying. They will stop saying it, I promise.

decrease the deficit is by eliminating fraud and waste. So when Obama shows that this is exactly what he did, he can say that's what they claim to want.

It's just like Bush 2000

You'd think there was no difference between him and Gore to hear
Bush tell it

We have work to do!

13. Yes, I know, but this lie in particular has the potential to stick with voters. It is a vicious LIE

that ought to be debunked every chance we get. Not just Obama and Biden, but ALL Democrats should be on message, just as the Republican liars are. They are saying the very same thing--that Obama "stole" from Medicare to fund Obamacare. Again they're all on message!! We need to get on message, too!

7. Over 4000 posts in 20 minutes on this article posted on Yahoo

When I first read the article on Yahoo, there were nine posts. I kept refreshing the page, and the number of posts were growing by hundreds at a time. It was as if every right-wing posting crazy in the country all jumped on this one article at the same time. Just following orders from right-wing poster central command? Good question, it was amazing though. They must be trying desparately to drown out any serious discussion or posts -- not that much of that happens on Yahoo anyway, of course.

He HAS done nothing but lie in a very deliberate way -- the roads and bridges / 'you didn't built that' misquote shows that Romney is unwilling to actually talk about what Obama's policies really are and, of course, unwilling to say what his own policy would be.

The whiteboard in a parking lot thing last Thursday was bizarre and Romney lied in writing on live TV.

Ryan has 2 or 3 positions on everything too: Ann Rand, Medicare, government aid, TARP...

As a significant portion of the population moves to the idea that Romney and Ryan will say anything (eg. lie their asses off) they are screwed. Every lie they tell from here out works against them as it reinforces the idea that they have nothing but lies and are not trustable.
