Democrat reiterates doubts about Jared Kushner's loyalty to the U.S.

Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., a member of the House Judiciary Committee, said he was absolutely impugning Jared Kushners patriotism when he tweeted Wednesday that we dont know where his loyalties lie whether to America or bailing out his and his familys debts.
Its one of the reasons he cant get a high-level security clearance, Lieu said in an interview on Yahoo News podcast, Skullduggery, when asked about his tweet questioning Kushners loyalty.
He has a web of financial arrangements. He has mounting debts both to himself and his family. He refuses to answer a very simple question from Congress. I wrote him a letter over two months ago, we asked him to answer this basic question: Did you talk to any foreign nationals about 666 Fifth Avenue [the family owned property that has been heavily in debt]?
And he cant answer that simple question. What we have here is a person who is subject to blackmail risk or he is doing his job with these conflicts of interest that are so massive that anybody who, but for [being] the son-in-law of the president, would have been fired long ago.

(53,961 posts)With anti-Semitism on the rise, shit like this is going to have an effect. Personally, I think Lieu is right, but it isn't limited just to Kushner, and it will be that shithead, not the others (the "president", certain members of Congress, MAGA supporters), who will be the "star" (of David) of accusations of loyalty to another country(ies).

(52,257 posts)that it was his family and his finances and that were competing for his loyalty. no mention of israel.
i agree, though, if you're going to question the loyalty of someone jewish, it's important to be very clear what you think is competing for that loyalty.

(53,961 posts)As I said, personally, I agree with his assessment of Kushner (a few others are in the same boat). What I am envisioning, with rising anti-Semitism in the US and worldwide, is Kushner being used as an example of "Jews are not loyal to the US!" and/or "Jews only care about money!" especially if Kushner is somehow a lynchpin in bringing down this pathetic, hate-filled, odious administration.

Embassy move to Jerusalem, which Jared advised Trump to do?
That is a Netanyahu move with Jared's help.

(53,961 posts)It is not to say it wasn't shady and ill-advised, but the idea that Israel will be singled out for his traitorous ways is problematic, especially since there is proof of collusion in regards to China and Qatar. Where was his financial benefit? Was he manipulated? I believe it is possible. Then again, there are those who will automatically focus on Israel and Kushner's being a Jew, right? History shows that to be true.
ETA: Actually, everything I have read about the move it was Adelson who had the shithead's ear (and Pence...not a Jew, by the way), Kushner likely simply agreed.
ETA: To some extent, Mr. Trumps willingness to take such a risk underscores how little progress his peace negotiators led by his son-in-law, Jared Kushner have made. Six months ago, when the president last had to decide whether to sign a waiver to keep the embassy in Tel Aviv, Mr. Kushner prevailed on Mr. Trump to do so, in the interest of the peace process.
Since then, however, the administrations efforts have shown little evidence of narrowing the differences between Israelis and Palestinians. Mr. Kushner and Jason D. Greenblatt, the presidents special envoy, supported Mr. Trumps decision, officials said. source
So while he eventually supported the shithead's piss poor decision, it doesn't look as if he was instrumental in the decision; the shithead "president" was!

(33,590 posts)as one of the Countries that have leverage on Kushner?
I can't say either way, since I haven't gone into the weeds of the Kushner deals.
I'd have to see why they were named as one of the four countries.

(1,474 posts)Makes as much sense to blame this on Kushner being Jewish as it would to blame it on Kushner having dark hair. The hatred in America (and the world) is the same hatred that fueled the apocalypse or any genocide. Haters blinded by hate, evil sociopaths channeling the hate for their own purposes. Sometimes it really sucks to be a human.

(53,961 posts)There is really nothing to be done, it is just managing the optics of it, as Lieu did so well.

(7,506 posts)I posted to KOS that Kushners were gonna be the Rosenbergs of our time. I git slammed by some and some agreed. It kinda turned into a spitting contest. I pulled it for the sake of keeping a good tank. I wonder if I'd be slammed if I posted it again?

(53,961 posts)The appearance is that you are making it about (or at least it is important to the betrayal) that they are Jews. If you compared him to Benedict Arnold, no problem. While Jews certainly can be disloyal, even traitorous, it is important to realize those are common stereotypes applied to all (or most) Jews, therefore, drawing a conclusion that Kushner (a Jew) is like the Rosenbergs (Jews) starts to look like a pattern is emerging. Recently, the POS Wayne LaPierre of the NRA spat out all kinds of bullshit, but this was what raised eyebrows, mine included:
"History proves it. Every time, in every nation in which this political disease rises to power, its citizens are repressed, their freedoms are destroyed, and their firearms are banned and confiscated. It is all backed in this country by the social engineering, and the billions, of people like [philanthropists of Jewish lineage] George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, Tom Steyer, and more."
All Jews! He also singled out Karl Marx, Bernie Sanders, and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer. Guess what they all have in common?!
So, as a Jew, I suggest you stay away from the Rosenberg analogy and take a lead from Rep. Lieu and spell out Kushner's disloyalty clearly and make sure your objections can't be painted as Kushner's disloyalty having anything to do with his religion/ethnicity.

(30,613 posts)It's an issue, i.e. a risk which has been realized as an actual current problem. We already know of at least four countries plotting to manipulate/blackmail him, and it appears that he has already taken an adverse foreign policy action (blockading our ally Qatar) because of his financial problems.
