Texas Democrats' early voting totals should 'shock every conservative to their core,' Abbott email

Source: Dallas Morning News

AUSTIN — Early voting for the March primary is more than half over, and Democrats have outpaced Republicans at the polls on each day.

Through Sunday in the 15 Texas counties with the most registered voters, 135,070 people had voted in the Republican primary and 151,236 in the Democratic. Compared to the first six days of early voting in 2014, Democratic turnout increased 69 percent, while Republicans saw a 20 percent increase.

The Democrats even surpassed their early voting totals from the 2016 primary — a presidential election year.

Sen. Ted Cruz told a group of Republican voters this month that the left would “crawl over broken glass in November to vote ... We could get obliterated at the polls,” and other Republicans appear to be taking the Democratic surge seriously. Gov. Greg Abbott’s campaign sent supporters an email Monday asking for donations to help him get out the vote, warning that the early voting numbers “should shock every conservative to their core.”

For them the rush and crowds is an exciting part of the process. When I’m working an election I always vote on Election Day myself.

All that matters is that you vote, not if it’s early or not.

I normally have things squared away long before now, but I guess I’ve been procrastinating a bit myself this year!

My registration card is in my wallet. Pre signed and ready to go! Once it gets the Democratic stamp this year I’ll move it to the front to give me that happy feeling of accomplishment again every time I see it.

was 70 degrees couple days before that so i was asking why weather couldn't wait another day. Ay caramba. But i figured for the price of our freedom i'd be willing to put on a brave face, bundle up and get my butt to the polls to vote in the primaries. Was a no-brainer once i looked at it that way.

This could get entertaining: if we get a decent majority in Texas, the first thing that needs to go into the hopper is a bill mandating a candidate for any public office be required to supply a copy of his or her tax returns, business records and financial statements to the Secretary of State if he or she wants to be on the ballot.

in District 25. It'd be wonderful to flip some of those seats to blue! I know here in California there's a very active strategy to turn those seats that are flippable. I was going to working on the Darrell Issa situation but he's retiring so I'm hoping that will help....

This year, there's an eruption of energy. I think our government make be flipping blue for the sake of our nation's future generation.

Minus the blatant racist backlash about Obama that idiot would not be where he is.

But.....That abomination seems to have swung things back plus some....and in a speedy fashion.

Now if we can just survive till 2021.....under Drumpf or Pence.....better days should be dead ahead.

How completely fucked-up do you have to be, that you would allow your proper use of the English language to be reduced to a toddler level.

You now hear talking heads on MSNBC and CNN using bullshit like "Democrat Party", or "Democrat Memo" AND THEY USE IT...AND KNOW THEY USE IT AS A SMEAR

The worst insult you can give is to refuse to call someone by their chosen name.

In conversation and when I see it on the Tube, the minute someone uses "Democrat Party", when it should be Democratic Party, or "Democrat" when it should be Democrats, I tune them out.

It's not an accident that they do this...it's an agenda.

To me it just shows that a person doesn't understand grammar, but I know they use "Democrat" instead of "Democratic" to be rude. Why? It's kind of like flipping somebody off by doing jazz hands at them... weak and makes no sense.

I believe we can win a few of these races in Texas. I am calling all of my Democratic/Independent leaning friends. We are going to vote now. We will vote in November. We will vote in 2020. Vote - Vote - Vote.

It is the typical bubble fill in "Scantron" using black ink pen. The county has used this system for years for all voting. As a past election judge representing the Democratic Party, I feel it is a very safe, secure and verifiable voting method at the county level. The precinct vote totals and county tabulations are on the "up and up". I do not like voting methods that do not have a paper trail. I am also cautious about what happens in Austin when the county numbers are tabulated for the "official" result.
