President Donald Trump on Monday compared being highly trained in the use of a firearm to being good at golf.
He made the remark while speaking to governors from across the country about his proposal to arm teachers who volunteer for the responsibility in order to deter future school shootings. When the press covered it, the headline was Trump wants all teachers to have guns, the President said. Trump wants teachers to have guns.
I dont want teachers to have guns. I want highly-trained people that have a natural talent, like hitting a baseball or hitting a golfball or putting.
He added: How come some people always make the four-footer, and some people, under pressure, cant even take their club back?

He would, and I am reminded of an old expression we used with regard to a different president, "fail miserably."
Teaching takes patience and the ability to deal with distracted children. Takes a very specific kind of personality to teach children. Trump could never do it.
People who focus on a target and perfect the skill of shooting are probably not so good at dealing with the incredible number of distractions, needs and personalities in a classroom. There may be some who are able to teach and also to shoot a gun very well, but they would be exceptional. Dealing with lots of distractions, emotions, outbursts, noise, etc. is what teaching is about.
Focusing and completing a task is what I imagine shooting to be about.
Trump should spend about 8 weeks of his life trying to teach math to 11-year-olds who find it very boring or confusing or just less interesting than their I-phones. Then he should comment on guns in classrooms.
Personally, I think that guns in schools are a dangerous proposition no matter who controls them.
