Sarah Huckabee Sanders Claims 'We Have Not Declared War On The Press'

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended the Trump administrations relationship with the press Tuesday night, inaccurately telling former Clinton administration press secretary Mike McCurry that we have not declared war on the press.
Yes you did, McCurry countered at a panel co-sponsored by the White House Correspondents Association and the White House Transition Project. Martha Joynt Kumar, the latter groups director, moderated the event.
Yes you did, McCurry continued. And thats a big, big difference, and you need to roll that back. You cant do it, but the President has got to roll that back.
President Donald Trump and his one-time chief strategist Steve Bannon famously called the press the enemy of the people, and little has changed in the Presidents view of the Fourth Estate.

I am no Huckabee fan, but certainly there are legitimate criticisms that can be directed towards her without this cringe worthy epithet.

(2,091 posts)This is really sexist. A male in her job and you wouldn't have knuckle heads talking about his looks, or his dress, or his weight.....
This is the 21st Century.....act like it!

(65,076 posts)Is it ok to say that? It's an objectively true statement. Obviously, it can't be sexist.
In which case is ok to say it?

Rational thought would dictate the cases only when it's objectively relevant. Otherwise, it's mere petulance at best.
But I certainly understand the desire to act petulant, as we often justify it as "truth" in order to maintain the pretense of our own self-righteousness.

Happy?

(2,091 posts)It would also be a waste to criticize trump for being fat.
Not that we would do that....which supports my point.
The word fat is not used in my house. Except to talk about fat grams, since my wife and i are on a low fat diet.
It is really demeaning to judge a person based on thinness and looks....hell, that is the way Trump judges women!!!! Can't I expect a higher level of discussion on DU?
Overweight is a health issue. If you buy into making fun of Sanders because she is "fat and ugly" how are you better than Trump? You think like he does. Pfft!!!
