Controversies pile up for White House, alarming GOP

President Trumps White House is consumed by controversies on several fronts, putting the administration on the defensive at a time when Republicans are increasingly worried about their electoral prospects.
Republicans would be content to spend every day between now and Election Day focused on the GOPs tax-cut bill and the economy. But those efforts are complicated by the sheer volume of controversies the White House is juggling.
Every day they are working on another crisis is another day lost for pushing their agenda, said one former White House adviser. At the same time, theyve been doing this since day one, so its not too unusual that they are engulfed in another crisis.
The growing list of controversies dogging the White House touch on everything from the Russia investigation to allegations that Trump has not been faithful to his wife.

(12,904 posts)I have to check the date on some of the articles on the GOP opinion about their scandalous White House. This could, and should, have been written this time last year.

By David W. Dunlap July 30, 2015 2:20 pm
Some Americans are just getting to know Donald Trump. Readers of The Times have known him for 42 years.
They first met him, on the front page no less, on Oct. 16, 1973. Then 27 years old, Mr. Trump was the president of the Trump Management Corporation, at 600 Avenue Z in Brooklyn, which owned more than 14,000 apartments in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
Major Landlord Accused of Antiblack Bias in City, the headline stated. The Department of Justice had brought suit in federal court in Brooklyn against Mr. Trump and his father, Fred C. Trump, charging them with violating the Fair Housing Act of 1968 in the operation of 39 buildings.
The government contended that Trump Management had refused to rent or negotiate rentals because of race and color, The Times reported. It also charged that the company had required different rental terms and conditions because of race and that it had misrepresented to blacks that apartments were not available.

(2,050 posts)To the killings in Florida, banning bump stocks doesn't stop the weapon from being used, it comes with a stock.
And that video making the rounds of an Ar-15 owner cutting the barrel off his weapon?.
Buy a new barrel, remove and replace, ready to fire, cutting the barrel off did not hurt the weapon in any way.
If he cut through the reciever where the main mechanicals are it would have destroyed the weapon, but he didn't.

(22,133 posts)I think a lot more than the gop is alarmed w/ this idiotic person who proven beyond all doubt of his inability to govern.
I pray as well as concentrate with all of my meager mental abilities that tRUMP and his ilk will be zapped to the planet called 'Constitution', where they will be subject to 24 hour broadcasts of the Preamble to the US Constitution, as well as the Bill of Rights and Amendments to the Constitution. Nonstop.
For that matter, perhaps all the gop needs to go there too?
One day soon, this will be simply remembered as a bad nightmare!
