George and Amal Clooney will march with Parkland students, donate $500k

George and Amal Clooney are speaking up and giving back.

The Hollywood power couple announced Tuesday they will be marching in support of student survivors of the Parkland, Fla. shooting rampage, according to a statement from George Clooney provided to USA TODAY by his representative Stan Rosenfield.

“Amal and I are so inspired by the courage and eloquence of these young men and women from Stoneman Douglas High School," the statement reads. "Our family will be there on March 24 to stand side by side with this incredible generation of young people from all over the country..."

The nationwide group March For Our Lives announced Sunday that they will march in the nation's capital and other cities to demand safer schools and legislation "to effectively address the gun violence issues that are rampant" across the nation.

9. Better than a march, a 'die-in'

Students gathered outside of the White House on Monday as part of a “die in” to protest in favor of gun laws in light of the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

The protest was organized by Teens for Gun Reform. Students laid down on the ground to symbolize victims of school shootings, according to the organization’s event page on Facebook....
