Trump hits golf course 3 days after visiting shooting victims

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — President Trump hit the golf course on Monday, three days after visiting people affected by the deadly school shooting in nearby Parkland, Fla.

The president arrived at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach shortly after 9 a.m.

Trump avoided golf over the weekend, a decision aides said was out of respect for the 17 people killed in a shooting last week at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

But the president returned to the course on Monday to cap off a holiday weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort. Trump is scheduled to return to Washington in the afternoon.

Press had an eventful morning before entering Mar-a-Lago:

Driver of one of the press pool vans was detained during security screening for what he said was a personal firearm found in his baggage. Driver said he forgot to leave the firearm inside his personal vehicle before entering van.
