Trump tweets Russia started anti-US campaign long before he ran for president
Source: CNBC
President Donald Trump claimed in a tweet Friday that the latest indictment issued by special counsel Robert Mueller showed that his presidential campaign "did nothing wrong" during the 2016 election.
"Russia started their anti-US campaign in 2014, long before I announced that I would run for President," Trump tweeted as he departed the White House for south Florida, the location of his private Mar-a-Lago club. "The results of the election were not impacted. The Trump campaign did nothing wrong no collusion!"

(5,075 posts)It looks like tRump just admitted that Russia did meddle (including during his campaign), but he is trying to distance himself from the fallout.

(11,631 posts)He wants us to believe that while they were trying to interfere that his campaign somehow was independent of it all. Of course, all those Russian and pro-Russian people working on his campaign were just captivated by MAGA and Trump.

(12,600 posts)It's a profit-making venture solely owned by the Trump Organization, whose primary beneficiary is Donald J. Trump. Every time he goes down there the taxpayers are stuck pouring millions of dollars into Donnie Two Scoops' pockets.
If it were truly an auxiliary White House there wouldn't be any private members who have paid $200,000 for a membership on the chance they will meet (and influence) the president. It would be equipped with areas for Top Secret meetings, such as the one Trump held in the restaurant while eating "the most beautiful chocolate cake you've ever seen." There would be a secure communications facility (which they probably have).
Here's a summary of Trump's visits to his own properties, and the estimated cost to taxpayers: http://trumpgolfcount.com/

The president of the United States should be aware that Russia has been antagonistic to the USA for about a century now

(7,220 posts)Protecting our country from foreign enemies is your whole fucking job, and all you have to say is "I wasn't involved"?
Or is this one of those cases where we have to wait for "due process"? You know, because Russians are not poor and brown?

Funny, I thought that the attacks were from a 300 kid on his bed in his mom's basement in N.J.?
This is huge this is Trump admitting to Russian attacks on America.

Russia is way deep into the Republican party.
Before Trump formally announced Pence as his vice presidential candidate, it was Manafort who made sure it happened, The New York Times reported last year.
Trump had hesitated to settle on Pence, who was governor of Indiana. Trump was fielding last-ditch appeals from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and publicly said he had not made a final, final decision until advisers like Manafort reminded him of the importance of uniting the GOP around conservative Christian values.
CBS News reported that Pence was Manafort's "first choice" and that Manafort even lied about mechanical problems on Trump's plane to make the soon-to-be GOP nominee stay an extra day in Indiana to get to know Pence. In a phone call, Manafort assured Trump that Pence was the right choice and made a case that won over the real estate tycoon.
Manafort would later downplay his behind-the-scenes choice, telling the Times that Trump never seriously doubted Pence.

(7,220 posts)The response from the national media, and sorry, Democrats, was tepid if anything. He was DARING a foreign ADVERSARY to hack his opponent and/or our country! In all fairness to people who should have been all over this at the time, it was definitely a 3-ring circus environment like we hadn't seen before. We were all reeling from all of the shit was happening.

But the filing date shows that the Russians had plenty of time to plan the part they would play.
