'I mean, come on': Paul Ryan says Trump should 'absolutely' come out against wife beating

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) on Wednesday called on President Donald Trump to publicly speak out against domestic abuse.

At a press conference on Wednesday, reporters reminded the Speaker that Trump has refused to publicly condemn former White House staffer Rob Porter for allegedly abusing his ex-wives and that the president has also declined to make a more generalized statement against domestic violence.

“Do you think the White House should publicly condemn domestic violence,” MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt asked Ryan. “Should the president?”

“Absolutely,” Ryan replied. “Look, I can’t speak for what [Rob Porter] did because I don’t even know the answer to that. But clearly, clearly we should — I mean, come one — clearly we should all be condemning domestic violence. And if a person who commits domestic violence gets in the government, then there’s a breakdown in the system. There’s a breakdown in the vetting system. And that breakdown needs to be addressed.”

This is the same guy who spoke out against Trump's racism during the campaign and now he is kissing his ass on a daily basis. It is hard to take anything he says seriously.

He abused two of his ex wives.

When you speak but can’t speak, you’re not really saying anything at all. So just sit down, shut up, and wait for your pink slip. It’s coming quite soon.

He has to know that Trump cannot come out against domestic violence given (1) Ivana’s deposition testimony in which she claimed to have been raped by her former husband, and (2) the Donald’s long history of misogyny and sexual misconduct.

The part of the book that caused the most controversy concerns Trump’s divorce from his first wife, Ivana. Hurt obtained a copy of her sworn divorce deposition, from 1990, in which she stated that, the previous year, her husband had raped her in a fit of rage. In Hurt’s account, Trump was furious that a “scalp reduction” operation he’d undergone to eliminate a bald spot had been unexpectedly painful. Ivana had recommended the plastic surgeon. In retaliation, Hurt wrote, Trump yanked out a handful of his wife’s hair, and then forced himself on her sexually. Afterward, according to the book, she spent the night locked in a bedroom, crying; in the morning, Trump asked her, “with menacing casualness, ‘Does it hurt?’ ” Trump has denied both the rape allegation and the suggestion that he had a scalp-reduction procedure. Hurt said that the incident, which is detailed in Ivana’s deposition, was confirmed by two of her friends.

. . . .

Trump was deposed during the divorce, too. According to a report by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, which examined the divorce records, Trump invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination approximately a hundred times when Ivana’s lawyers asked him about adulterous relations with other women.

If Trump were to come out against sexual misconduct, his past would become fair game, more allegations of abuse would arise, and there surely would be a call for an investigation from Gillibrand and others.
