UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Myanmars government was preventing the United Nations Security Council and other groups from traveling to Rakhine state because they want to ensure no one contradicts their preposterous denials of ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims.
This council must hold the military accountable for their actions and pressure Aung San Suu Kyi to acknowledge these horrific acts that are taking place in her country, Haley told a meeting of the 15-member council on Myanmar

U.S. urges U.N. to hold Myanmar military accountable for 'ethnic cleansing'

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The United States on Tuesday described Myanmar denials of ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims as preposterous as it called on the U.N. Security Council to hold the military accountable and pressure leader Aung San Suu Kyi to acknowledge these horrific acts that are taking place in her country.
Powerful forces in the Burmese government have denied the ethnic cleansing in Rakhine State, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told the Security Council.
To make sure no one contradicts their preposterous denials, they are preventing access to Rakhine to anyone or any organization that might bear witness to their atrocities, including the U.N. Security Council, Haley said.
French U.N. Ambassador Francois Delattre also told the Security council that a massacre of Rohingya Muslims reported by Reuters could constitute crimes against humanity.

(33,360 posts)Nations, particularly Autocracies, do not admit culpability in genocides unless forced by a treaty of surrender. The Junta are still in control of Burma, not Suu Kyi.
Turkey won't admit to the Armenian Genocide a 100 years later.
The UN is again exposed as toothless. The only time I can remember them accomplishing an end to genocide is in Kosovo.
