Trump throws support behind Barletta in Pa. Senate race

President Trump on Sunday threw his support behind Rep. Lou Barletta (R-Pa.), who is seen as the leading Republican candidate seeking to unseat Sen. Bob Casey Jr. (D) in the midterm elections.

Trump had already given Barletta a de-facto endorsement last year when he said during a rally that the candidate was a "great guy" who will "win big."

The president has lately taken an interest in elections in Pennsylvania, a state that proved vital to Trump’s victory in 2016.

Last month, the president visited the state to signal support for Rick Saccone, the Republican candidate in a special election to replace Rep. Tim Murphy (R), who announced his resignation last month after reports that he had urged a woman with whom he had been having an affair to get an abortion.

Toomey barely barely won, with massive GOP voter suppression, tons of billionaire/Koch dark money, Comey’s letter, corporate media focus on emails which suppresses downballot turnout, and a lot of help from the Russians.


There are more D voters than R in PA. And turnout in 2018 will be massive - GOP kryptonite. GOP relies on voter suppression to win. They have to cheat and they know it. Just as in VA in 2017, if we can get turnout up, we will defeat vile and hateful Barletta and his billionaire donors.
