A British newspaper reported Thursday that Rep. Jon Stanard, R-St. George, resigned abruptly Tuesday after he met a Salt Lake City call girl twice for sex, and it released racy texts that it says he sent to her.
The Daily Mail of London said call girl Brie Taylor claims Stanard paid her for sex during two business trips to Salt Lake City in 2017. Taylor claims he paid her $250 for each of the one-hour sessions in June and August on dates when the Legislature held interim meetings.
Stanard is married and voted for stricter laws against pornography. He also said on his website which has since been deleted I am a strong advocate for conservative family values. I am pro life, as well as for traditional marriage.

....................Stanard told the Associated Press on Wednesday that his father has terminal cancer and he resigned to spend time with him out of state. He did not immediately respond to a text for comment Thursday.
His attorney, Wally Bugden, told the Mail, "Given the current climate in this country with misconduct allegations and the way things are happening in the media right now, there isn't any explanation that my client could give that would overcome the shadow of these allegations. He has resigned his office."
Taylor in a text message said her interview was exclusive to Shanti Das, a reporter with the South West News Service, or SWNS, a newswire service started in the United Kingdom and expanded to the United States.
Das, who is based in New York, declined to say whether she was paid for the story.
"I don't really see how that's relevant," she said.
"We're sharing Brie's story on her behalf. She contacted us wanting to share her story," Das said. "Brie has spoken to us. She didn't want to speak to anyone else."..................................

But, assuming it will be substantiated, . Another one down in sleazy flames.

If the escort was a single mom, then liberals are at fault here.
Either way, his church, family, and voters will forgive him and he can do it again.

The person who had two "meetings" with him had to work so damned hard for $500.00. Probably had to wear a sleep-mask.

The Utah House of Representatives is investigating whether a former Republican state lawmaker used campaign funds to arrange visits with a prostitute.
Utah House Chief of Staff Greg Hartley told The Associated Press on Thursday that he is reviewing state records to determine if former Rep. Jon Stanard (R) used a state-issued cell phone and taxpayer-funded hotel visits to meet with prostitutes.
Stanard, who is married, abruptly resigned Tuesday night after a report in the British Daily Mail alleged he twice hired a prostitute in 2017.
In a statement Wednesday, Stanard mentioned personal and family concerns as a reason for his departure but did not address the allegations.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Taxpayer funds were used to pay for at least two hotel rooms that a Utah lawmaker who resigned this week is alleged to have used to meet up with a prostitute last year, according to records found by a state House of Representatives official. After the British newspaper the Daily Mail reported allegations Thursday that Republican Rep. Jon Stanard twice hired a prostitute in 2017, House and state elections officials said they were checking to see if taxpayer or campaign money was used for the hotel stays that the report alleges Stanard booked.
. . .
Stanard, a married Republican from the southern Utah resort community of St. George, resigned after serving five years in the House. He voted last year in favor of a law that made state prostitution laws stricter, including raising the penalty for people who are convicted twice of solicitation.
. . .
The date and time of the messages indicate Stanard would have been texting her to arrange meetings on days the Legislature was in session in March and when lawmakers were in meetings at the Capitol in summer and fall.
Stanard's 2017 campaign finance report shows he submitted an expense on March 10 for $1,510 for "extra hotel expense session lodging" at the "Marriott Residence."
