White House: Trump lawyers in favor of appointing second special counsel

Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah told reporters on Air Force One Monday that President Trump's attorneys have already approved the idea of appointing a second special counsel to investigate the FBI and Justice Department's actions during the 2016 presidential campaign, according to White House pool reports.
Shah also said that the White House will approach further memos, including the one created by Democrats, in the same way they handled the memo authored by Devin Nunes: "Which is to allow for a legal review, national security review led by the White House Counsels Office, and then within five days the president will make a decision about declassifying it," said Shah.
Worth noting: Trump reportedly stated that he was in favor of releasing the Nunes memo before actually seeing it.
More from the gaggle:
Will Trump approve of releasing the FISA warrant sanctioning electronic surveillance of Carter Page? Shah said again that the White House will entertain any document voted out of the House Intelligence Committee the same way.

(17,863 posts)since the other one is a Republican. It can start looking at the whole Weiner/Rudy/FBI NYC nexus. How did Trump partisans know about the duplicate emails in advance, and why was it timed for maximum effect? I wonder what their emails would reveal?

This one's from an early 60's Mad Magazine, and refers to a Soviet proposal to replace the UN Secretary General with a three person panel:
I'm looking over a three man troika
to head up the UN floor,
One man's a Commie, the other's the West,
Third one is neutral - a Cuban is best...
No need explaining that chaos reigning
is something that I'd adore...
If the three we're using is not confusing
then maybe we'll make it four!

(17,205 posts)I don't suppose they can specifically instruct the investigator to find what they want, and I rather expect that they were so sloppy, even one determined to bend over backwards in their favor will still be overwhelmed by all the bread crumbs.

This would be sarcasm if it wasn't so true.

(4,423 posts)Distraction. As long as they can continue to push this false narrative that somehow the Obama admin used the power of government to undermine Trump, their base eats it up and it gets them motivated.

(33,643 posts)This is bullshit if they're going to some slip some partisan hack SP in place to do this bogus 'investigation' ... while he's trying to do his work.
Methinks they want access to all Mueller's evidence REALLY BAD and think this is a way to get to at least some of it ... then this SP will leak what he finds to the WH and Ryan/Nunes.
This is a fucking SHAM if they try to do this while Mueller is still working.
Of course, might also just be an angle to force his hand to act quickly in hopes he doesn't yet have all his ducks in a row ...
I suppose they'll claim that since the FBI is the 'target', that the WH (or a House majority) gets to decide who it is and appoint them. No input from Wray ...
This sort of thing LITERALLY the friggin' IG's job, btw. What a joke.

He hsas no idea how much trouble he's in, and how much more he'll get in if he gets a second special council, who will end up backing up the FBI's version of events.
