An apology was issued by the Kentucky State Police last night, after they faced backlash for a controversial joke about prison anal rape that was posted to their Twitter page during the Super Bowl on Sunday.
According to the Kentucky Courier Journal, the Kentucky State Police tweeted an anti-drink driving joke alongside a slow-motion GIF of a bar of soap hitting the ground to its 51,000 followers yesterday.
"Enjoy watching Rob Gronkowski (TE) play but if you drink & drive ... your tight end may end up in jail! #deignatedriver" the tweet said.
The implication being that if you drink and drive you may end up in prison where you would have to ensure you dont drop the soap, a vulgar reference to anal rape.

(16,903 posts)Maybe Im just getting old, but there seems to be no class, or decorum or any dignity in our speech these days. Maybe Drumpf is to blame.

(10,129 posts)But it is imagery of appalling circumstances that affect you for drunken driving. Unfortunately, in today's world, you have to grab someone's attention - A 10k fine and no Driver's license for 6 mos is not much a deterrent for some. And after the Super Bowl, there are plenty of drunk drivers out and about. That is the theme.

Jesus fucking Christ.

(10,129 posts)By your line of reasoning, it would be murder-apology? It's a Drunk driving ad. Not a rape ad. it endorses neither.

(3,635 posts)that is endemic across all types of jails and detention facilities.
Human Rights Watch did a landmark study about this awhile back.
Could only occur with the tacit consent of the system from the top on down - a violation of the Eighth Amendment's protection against 'cruel and unusual punishment'.
The punishment/sentence/justice someone receives should be determined by due process and the courts and judges - not by thug cops/corrections/inmates.

A cop there pulled out a tube of KY lubricant,
offering it to the guy, and said
"You'll be needing this".
Apparently cops think prison rape is funny.

(22,037 posts)As other posters and commentators have made clear, it's an offensive gif.
But the idiocy and stupidity don't end there. The other message the Kentucky State Police, or their resident fool who posted the tweet, is that if you're in the custody of the KSP, you will not be safe from sexual or other assault.
Good job, Kentucky. That's quite a police force you've got.

Here's a couple of good rules: If you root for the rape of a pedophile, you're scum. If you think any kind of prison rape is funny, you're scum.
