Paul Ryan deletes tweet about tax cuts after Twitter backlash

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)House Speaker Paul Ryan deleted a tweet Saturday touting the GOP tax overhaul after critics called him out for appearing out of touch with the reality of low-income individuals' financial situations.

The tweet shared the story of a secretary who, according to a report by the Associated Press, was "pleasantly surprised her pay went up $1.50 a week."

"A secretary at a public high school in Lancaster, PA, said she was pleasantly surprised her pay went up $1.50 a week ... she said [that] will more than cover her Costco membership for the year," Ryan tweeted with a link to the full article.

Jon Favreau, a former Obama staffer, tweeted: "As a thank you for passing a $1 trillion corporate tax cut, Paul Ryan received $500,000 in campaign contributions from the Koch brothers, which would probably cover the cost of buying a Costco."

Most of the really good, humor/jokes are the ones that people can identify with. Rethuglicans can't identify with anyone because they have so little, if any soul or feeling.

Hey @SpeakerRyan how about we vote on a bill to end the GOP tax scam’s giveaways to the top 1% & big corporations and give that money to hardworking people in PA who are only receiving a $1.50 increase in their paycheck? https: //twitter.com/usatoday/status/959879163854442497 …

I wonder why? Maybe the whole point of he GOP tax scam was to give the super-rich and big corporations a windfall?

Senator Bob Casey

@SenBobCasey

Based on the non-partisan assessment of the Joint Committee on Taxation in 2019, over 57 million households making under $100,000 a year will see a tax increase or a tax cut of less than $9 a month

membership if you can’t afford to buy anything at Costco? Only a true sociopath such as Paul Ryan would believe he’s dealing with fools when he’s dealing with regular people.

His ham handed failure in his social skills with those he considers his inferiors is not only that he’s cavalier about it, but that he’s also condescending. He constantly exhibits disdain for those who voted for him and he takes their stupidity for granted. He believes they are there only to be manipulated to keep him in power so he can work diligently for the 1%.

I hope The Stashe beats him badly in the State election. He is badly in need of facial rug burns from landing on his face.

and this guy supposedly represents the hard working Americans ? Seems like he's a hypocrite, especially since he took a $500,000 gift/bribe/campaign contribution, from the Koch brothers. Clearly he's in their pockets, and not truly representing the average daily American struggling to make ends meet.

Even though the secretary may have been sarcastic to begin w/, Ryan's response to her is heart breaking, hateful, un-American, and un-Christian.

Oh by the way, I'm sending $1.50 to Paul Ryan, do you think he'll get the point?

the dual motives for the GOPeeeee tax scam are to not only reward donors but to drain the Federal treasury so that pukes (think they) have a pretext to destroy Social Security and Medicare.
