Manchin responds to Pence attacks: 'This is why Washington sucks'

Source: The Hill

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin (D) blasted Vice President Mike Pence for his tweets Wednesday over Manchin's vote on the GOP's tax reform bill, remarking that Pence's comments represent why Washington, D.C. "sucks."

In a statement to NBC's Frank Thorp, Manchin said he was "shocked" by Pence's comments.

"I was shocked that after the Vice President worked for almost a year in a divisive and partisan way to take healthcare away from almost 200,000 West Virginians, bankrupt our hospitals, and push tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and huge corporations that he would come to West Virginia and continue his partisan attacks," Manchin told NBC.

"The vice president's comments are exactly why Washington sucks. I'm disappointing in his comments but will continue to make Washington work so West Virginia and our country work," he added.

To act like the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce is representing average West Virginians. Weaker labor laws are really what'll get the state back on its feet!

Pence is the only reason I'm not for Trump's impeachment. Why give this creep a leg up going into 2020?

He could be gone before impeachment of Trump, or something else could happen to him legal-wise.

Pence picks fight with Manchin in West Virginia, Manchin hits back
Last Updated Jan 31, 2018 8:07 PM EST

Vice President Mike Pence has paid a visit to a truck dealership in southern West Virginia, touting the tax cuts enacted by the Republican-controlled Congress while slamming the state's Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, who voted against the plan.

Manchin faces re-election this year.

Pence says Manchin "has voted 'no' time and again on the policies that West Virginia needs."

Pence's Twitter account also posted multiple tweets criticizing Manchin, a Democrat in a state that overwhelmingly voted for Mr. Trump.

they know they're going to have a hard time defending Republican seats in blue and purple states if our side is energized.

Dems might actually take the house this election

For those who think a Blue Dog Democrat = Republican, here is an example of the difference. There IS a difference.
