White House aide: Trump wants memo released for 'transparency'

Source: The Hill

BY BRETT SAMUELS - 01/28/18 09:42 AM EST

White House legislative affairs director Marc Short said Sunday that President Trump wants a classified memo that purports to show political bias within the FBI to be released.

“We don’t know what’s in the memo. But I think the president generally sides on the side of transparency,” Short said on “Fox News Sunday.”

"I’m sure he’s very concerned about some of the appearances of conflict of interest at the top of the agency," Short said of Trump.

The Washington Post reported Saturday that Trump called for the release of the memo, despite opposition from leaders at the Department of Justice and the FBI.

White House aide: I’ve never heard Trump say he wanted to fire Mueller

BY BRETT SAMUELS - 01/28/18 09:30 AM EST

White House legislative affairs director Marc Short on Sunday disputed a report that President Trump tried to fire special counsel Robert Mueller last year.

“I’m not aware the president ever intimated he wanted to fire Robert Mueller,” Short said on “Fox News Sunday."

“Robert Mueller is still the special counsel, Don McGahn is still head of White House counsel, The White House continues to cooperate in every manner providing every document the special counsel has asked for,” he added.

The New York Times reported on Thursday that Trump attempted to oust Mueller last June, but was stopped after White House counsel Don McGahn threaten to tender his resignation. Multiple other news outlets later confirmed The Times' reporting.

Releasing this so called ‘memo’ is a gross and blatant attempt at obstructing The Special Counsel.
Every Democrat in Congress should immediately demand trump step down, they could actually start by canceling the State of the Union.

so there would be no "cancelling" coming from Democrats. The SOTU is a Constitutional construct, so Congress itself can't really "cancel" it as it is (although they coordinate the scheduling of it).

You mean like the "Emoluments clause"? "Well organized militia"? "Promote the general welfare"? All that other inconvenient stuff that we ignore when circumstances call for it, and no one seems to care?
