President Donald Trump on Friday used a brief question-and-answer session after his address in Davos, Switzerland to criticize one of his favorite targets: The media.
Speaking to an audience of global world and business leaders, Trump castigated the media as nasty and vicious.
As a businessman I was always treated really well by the press. You know, the numbers speak and things happen. But I've always, really, had a very good press, he said. And it wasn't until I became a politician that I realized how nasty, how mean, how vicious and how fake the press can be.
It was his second broadside against the media on Friday. Earlier in the day in Davos, Trump called reports that he wanted to fire special counsel Robert Mueller fake news. Fake news. Typical New York Times. Fake stories. The New York Times was the first to report that Trump ordered Mueller fired but eventually backed down.

On the other hand, if he is innocent and they are fake, then why get upset at them? Let your actions show your worth!

Just hearing him in person must make his disability all the more real to them. Surreal moments probably spring up wherever he goes.

(47,586 posts)If you talk one on one with people from other countries, they have a lot of sympathy for what we are going through, as they did during the Bush years, though I think they are as perplexed as we are as to how this came about.
Trump never represents anyone or anything besides himself. I've known my share of self-absorbed men in my life, but no one came close to the narcissist in the White House.

(43,281 posts)Is he saying the media were paid off? Because that would explain a lot of favorable press in some supposedly liberal newspapers about many things, even unrelated ones, that are entirely opposed to anything liberal at all.

(63,221 posts)They always portrayed him as the buffoon and braggart that he is. Everyone, and I mean everyone - rich and poor - looked down their noses at him because he was such a pathetic joke. Nobody had any respect for him. I don't know why he thinks that the press ever had any respect for him. I don't think he really gets sarcasm.

(38,445 posts)delivering the news needs to defend itself.....Trump doesn't like it, but it is in the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.......exact words:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
