Trump says he would re-enter TPP trade deal if it's made 'substantially better'

Source: The Hill

BY JORDAN FABIAN - 01/25/18 01:24 PM EST

President Trump said Thursday he would consider re-entering the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement if the terms were more favorable to the U.S.

“I would do TPP if we were able to make a substantially better deal,” Trump told CNBC during an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Trump called the Pacific Rim trade pact a “horrible deal” as written.

The comments were surprising coming from Trump, who won the 2016 election on a promise to take a more protectionist stance on trade.Trump railed against the TPP as a candidate and announced the U.S. would pull out of the agreement in one of his first acts as president. At the time, Trump said leaving the TPP is a "great thing for the American worker."

But it’s unclear what, exactly, could entice Trump to re-enter the agreement. The president did not say what specific changes he wants to see made.

China is the largest Pork Market. If one has been following the Hog Business in the last five years, you would notice this. Much of the Pork Industry as well as the Poultry Industry is Chinese controlled via their American Holding Companies. One of the Largest Hog Raising in the US is owned by a Chinese Holding company. With saying that, they now control the Cash Market as well as the Futures market. The Independent Hog Raising operation is ASOL.

These same Farmers who voted for Trump are now seeing their lively hood going the way of the buggy whip. While they were watching Fox News, the Multi national's were picking their pockets and closing their Markets.

Not just Iowa,Southern Minnesota Hog Growers are in the same boat. The o. ther side of this is,these same farmers most likely are in the Cash Grain Business. Well, the Stooge they voted for killed their Cash Grain Sales Market with his stupid Wall and Tariff's.

The U.S. is now left to attempt to strike its own individual deals. I am sure Trump can find some recent volunteer campaign worker in their 20's with no prior work experience up for the job. We are in good (tiny) hands. MAGA

Canada recently announced progress with all remaining countries in the TPP agreement.
Apparently Trump wasn't needed.

'course Trump's withdrawal screwed the U.S.,
but isn't that his goal all along?
