At Least 39 Killed in Wave of Attacks in Iraq

BAGHDAD — A wave of attacks across Iraq on Thursday killed at least 39 people and wounded more than 100, security and medical officials said.

The attacks, a series of car bombings, roadside bombings and armed assaults, killed army security officers, police officers and civilians in five provinces as well as in Baghdad.

The attacks came as the Muslim holy month of Ramadan drew to a close. More than 200 people have been killed since Ramadan began on July 20 in most of the Arab world, an escalation of violence that followed Al Qaeda in Iraq’s vow to begin a new offensive.

On Thursday, two car bombs exploded in northern Baghdad, targeting people who had gathered near a government building to file documents. The attacks left at least seven dead and 42 wounded, according to the police.

All this was predictable from the start. It's all a republiCON plan to bankrupt the US and force privatization of everything. Meanwhile the MIC gets richer and richer on the taxpayers dime. If we brought home all the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and closed the bases there we could solve the deficit problem easily. Vote out these "CONs" VOTE DEMOCRATIC.
