Accused FRC shooter charged with federal, D.C. offenses

Source: Washington Examiner

Federal and D.C. officials said Thursday that they have filed a criminal complaint against the suspect in a shooting at the downtown headquarters of the Family Research Council.

Floyd Lee Corkins II has been charged with interstate transportation of a firearm and ammunition, a federal offense, and assault with intent to kill while armed, a D.C. offense. He will appear in U.S. District Court at around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Corkins, 28, of Herndon, is accused of shooting security guard Leo Johnson in the arm at the conservative Christian group's headquarters Wednesday. Sources told The Examiner on Wednesday that Corkins had issues with the group's anti-same-sex marriage stance, although FBI officials have refused to comment on any potential motive.

FBI officials said they recovered a Sig Sauer 9mm semiautomatic pistol with two magazines of ammunition from the scene. They recovered another 50 rounds of ammunition from Corkins' backpack, as well as 15 Chik-fil-A sandwiches, according to court documents. Chik-fil-A's CEO recently made headlines for his public opposition to same-sex marriage.

9. A whole lot of mental health care. And he's got more cash on hand than many people, buying all that.

Their side does this much more often, and has a much higher body count, than those who claim to be on our side.

3. Sorry, I don't think he's "one of us"

He bought 15 sandwiches from our enemy and was taking them to his buddies at the FRC. My hunch is that his dad, Floyd Corkins is the one who volunteered at the LGBT center and recently came out to his homophobic son who went out and bought a bunch of guns. The guns were recently purchased and Corkins (Sr.?) started working at the lgbt center only recently as well.

It's a very strange story. And my gaydar does not go off AT ALL from looking at the shooter's pics. It does a little bit when I look at Corkins Sr. http://www.apsva.us/domain/1408

4. Is it possible he contaminated or poisoned the sandwiches he was bringing to the FRC?

You're right, though. This whole case is weird.

And I bet that if the dude *is* gay, or supports gay rights, that he turns out to be one of those GOProud Log Cabin "Conservative" types.

6. When I heard about the sandwiches

I was afraid he wanted "death cards" the playing cards soldiers leave on dead enemies. If he managed to kill 15, and left a sandwich on each...

Anyway, I don't know that, but it is what occurred to me. Clearly the guy needs to be locked up, and as I said in another post. Terrorism always fails. The intended target always gets stronger from the attack. Epic fail on the shooter's part.

A off-duty Metropolitan (Washington DC) Police Department officer, drunk off his ass, jumps onto a car, firing 5 shots from his MPD service weapon, shouting "i'm gonna kill you all", wounding three people in the car of five passengers.

Guess the moral of the story is get your gun and ammunition from the work place and the feds won't charge you.
