Sen. Lindsey Graham: 'I said my piece' to Trump following his immigration comments
Source: CNBC
Sen. Lindsey Graham did not deny Friday that President Donald Trump called certain nations "s---hole" countries, adding that he "said [his] piece" in response to the president's "comments" at a meeting with lawmakers.
The South Carolina Republican did not rebut an account from Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., of a Thursday meeting on bipartisan immigration legislation. On Friday, Durbin said that Trump "repeatedly" said "hate-filled things" at the meeting and called African nations "s---hole" countries.
Durbin added that Graham spoke up in response to Trump's comments.

This was a press release from Graham:

It isn't on Graham's Senate website yet, but since it is a press release I can copy the full statement from the CNBC article:
"Following comments by the President, I said my piece directly to him yesterday. The President and all those attending the meeting know what I said and how I feel. I've always believed that America is an idea, not defined by its people but by its ideals.
"The American ideal is embraced by people all over the globe. It was best said a long time ago, E Pluribus Unum Out of Many, One. Diversity has always been our strength, not our weakness. In reforming immigration we cannot lose these American Ideals.
"The American people will ultimately judge us on the outcome we achieve, not the process which led to it.
"I know the bipartisan proposal discussed at the White House can get a lot of support from both sides. As always, I look forward to considering additional ideas that could make the proposal even better.
"I appreciate Senator Durbin's statements and have enjoyed working with him and many others on this important issue. I believe it is vitally important to come to a bipartisan solution to the immigration and border challenges we face today. I am committed to working with Republicans and Democrats to find common ground so we can move forward."

(3,194 posts)Why don't you back to elementary school to learn the difference between PIECE and PEACE.
Piece is more appropriate in the sentence, "My name is Lindsey Graham, and I am a Piece of Shit."

(14,898 posts)nobody in the white house knows who is wearing a wire, so they have to assume every word is being recorded and could leak out.
Just those too stupid to think would deny it (I'm look at you tom cotton).
So hopefully the bald face lying is being tempered, at least a bit. maybe.

Give one's opinion or make a prepared statement.
I've said my piece, it's up to you
I'm going to say my piece and you're going to listen!
It was such a dramatic moment that I didn't even need to say my piece.
Listening also means not interrupting the other but letting them say their piece.
You said your piece, and nobody else's opinion seemed to matter.
And in the end, Kate says her piece, eventually sealing the contest.
The family filtered through into an antechamber and the friends passed by us all one at a time, saying their piece.
She was a very vibrant and extrovert girl and not afraid of saying her piece.
Although I had been at the conference for two days, I was about to be granted just two minutes to say my piece.
You've got about 30 seconds to say your piece, and then people move on unless you have something interesting to say.
Even if you say your piece kindly and rationally, do not expect your friend to take it well.
Maybe the senator should have held his peace!

(4,886 posts)If Durban or Graham had responded sooner, they would have provided a little distraction. By letting POTUS and the WH staff try to defend the indefensible, and let POTUS deny the truth they knocked the legs out from under them and made all associated with POTUS look deplorable.
