A bipartisan group of senators have clinched a deal to provide protections to young immigrants known as Dreamers, but are facing pushback from President Trump and GOP leadership.
Sens. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said on Thursday that the group of six senators has locked down an agreement amongst themselves on pairing a fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program with a border security package.
"We've got this bipartisan group. We are at a deal. ... It's the only game in town," Flake told reporters.
Durbin confirmed that he believes the group has an agreement and they are "working to get support from the other senators, on both sides of the aisle, and we won't be releasing draft or final version at least through through the weekend."

(11,885 posts)Any money going in any way to trump, well I couldn't support it, or the people that do. Its funny when Obama wanted additional money from Congress for border security the GOP refused.

(5,210 posts)a filibuster-proof agreement?? This sounds like it to me. And that would certainly fit his ignorance profile on how the government works.

(4,733 posts)Filibuster proof = 60 votes in the Senate.
To override a veto you need 67 votes in the Senate.
Thus, simply having a filibuster proof majority in the Senate does not mean he does not have to approve it. He can always veto the bill.
Are you sure YOU know how government works?
you got me.
