A group representing President Trumps transition team is claiming that a memo from a government agency provides proof that emails were illegally handed over to special counsel Robert Muellers team, The Associated Press reported Thursday.
The group, Trump for America, claims that the General Services Administration (GSA) sent a memo last summer to Muellers team that shows the transition team legally owns the thousands of emails, and therefore they shouldnt have been given to the special counsels office. Mueller is leading a criminal investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Kory Langhofer, a lawyer for the transition team, told the AP that the group believes the memo was sent last June from the GSA to Mueller. He did not explain how the group became aware of it.
Representatives for the GSA and Muellers office declined to comment to the news service.

Next Response from Trump:"Hillary made me do it!"
The man is a pathetic self deluded loser.

(2,702 posts)Had the transition team bothered to read it, they would have seen that logging into the system implies consent for having communications intercepted and monitored for purposes such as law enforcement and counterintelligence investigations, that the communications using and data stored on the system are not private and subject to monitoring, interception, search and disclosure for any government authorized purpose, and that security measures are in place on the system to protect government interests rather than any personal benefit or privacy.
Its there every time they log in. Dumbasses.

(17,006 posts)I want to know what employer provides e-mail that they can't monitor. I think everyone who has ever had a job that required computer access remembers reading in their employee manual that any/all computer activities were subject to monitoring.

(4,066 posts)Apparently, reading the AP story, the memo was from the Beckler guy that Trump installed at GSA. Just because he sent a memo doesn't mean that he had the authority under law or GSA rules and regulations to do so. An inappropriate act is not made appropriate just because a flunky for them sent a memo.
Sure, in Beckler's opinion in the memo he may have stated exactly what they say he stated. That doesn't make it the get out of jail free card they are thinking it does though. Not to mention, they all had to sign waivers and see the notices about their use being non-private every time they logged in.
Nice try, but I don't think it will matter even if it exists.

(129,046 posts)who ran interference for them until he passed away over the summer of 2017. This was not something magically in effect during the actual election in 2016 when GSA was headed up by someone in the Obama admin, and when disclaimers were always put up by every agency regarding the use of government computers.
