President Donald Trump started his first cabinet meeting of the year a short time ago, and he started things off by taking a victory lap over his accomplishments of 2017.
Welcome back to the studio, Trump said as he began his address from the Cabinet Room. He proceeded to revisit his list of triumphs as he perceives them such as the GOP tax reform bill, the stock markets performance, and jobs creation.
Eventually, Trump bragged about how allowing the media to film his bipartisan immigration negotiations yesterday with several members of Congress. The discussions drew rare praise from his critics and complaints from his base. Naturally, Trump was more focused today on the former.
It was a tremendous meeting, actually. It was reported as incredibly good, and my performance got great reviews from everybody other than two networks who were phenomenal for about two hours. Then after that they were called by their bosses who said oh, wait a minute and unfortunately, a lot of those anchors sent us letters saying that was one of the greatest meetings theyve ever witnessed.

(10,749 posts)A 71-year-old man held a meeting. This warrants praise? Anchors sent him letters? One of the greatest meetings ever witnessed? That quote was just sad.
He demonstrated that he didn't know what he was talking about re clean bill, and Republicans had to modify and clarify everything he said.
The beauty of his stupidity is that it is now being used against him. See that CA judge who used his tweets against him on the DACA move. And his comments yesterday will only bolster the argument that those here under DACA can stay, and that he wants them to stay, regardless of the wall or any other conditions. Republicans in Congress are going to have a hard time arguing for the wall or the wall as condition for DACA. Hey, your president said he wanted a clean DACA bill, that's what we're working on. You got a problem with that? Check with the buffoon-in-chief. Hey, b-i-c, why aren't you signing that clean DACA legislation? You said that's what you wanted. A bill of love. . .
So, hey, maybe it was a great meeting, but not for the reasons he may be thinking about.
That said, it still made me throw up a little and feel sad that the so-called president of the United States is proud that he can hold a meeting.

(15,805 posts)He reliving his past, trying to find comfort in staging these canned shows that recreates the heady era of his popularity as a TV celebrity. He's only in it for the publicity, the fame, notoriety, the ratings and reviews, the praise and accolades, photo ops and softball interviews. He doesn't give a damn about the country or anyone in it.
