Ohio Democrats team up: Governor candidate Richard Cordray picks primary contender Betty Sutton

COLUMBUS - Democrat Richard Cordray picked former U.S. Rep. Betty Sutton to serve as his running mate in his hunt for governor, The Associated Press confirmed Tuesday.
With several Democrats in the race for governor, it made sense for Cordray to pick a No. 2 from the list of his competitors. Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley was also considered for the position, Democrats told The Enquirer. Cordray and Sutton will announce the ticket at Akron Family Restaurant Wednesday.
Cordray, who led the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and Sutton, who oversaw the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, were both President Barack Obama appointees.
