Rep. Chris Stewart joins other Republicans in calling for Sessions to step down

Source: CNN

GOP Rep. Chris Stewart, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, joined the growing list of Republicans calling for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign.

"This is hard for me, it really is, because I think Jeff Sessions is one of the most honorable men in Washington, D.C.," Stewart told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Friday afternoon. "But we have been weakened in our investigation into very important concerns at the Department of Justice and the FBI. Jeff Sessions is not able to take the reins and direct that investigation."

He continued: "We need the director there who can take the reins and be assertive in that. He can't do that when he is recused. I believe it may be time for him to step aside."

... more than we already have? Will we notice the outraged speeches by various Dems?

I think the Russia thing will just get old, stale, and disappear, if Mueller gets fired. There is nobody to take up the work.

this Wolff book, damning though it is, is a sea change for the momentum and for public opinion, that it might "bottom" the administration's popularity and get the worst behind it, sort of a ju-jitsu blow to break up the focus and pressure.

Don't know.

More than half of the country knows we stand at the edge of an abyss. America and democracy make a stand here, or it will be taken from us. The ruling elites trying to steal everything have to be made to understand that. Americans are a lot of thing, they are not going to go peacefully and quietly. They rebel, they demonstrate, they organize. Silencing a country of vast geographic area would be costly. Could Trump pull it off?

control everything, howling is all we will hear.

With that out of the way, the GOP can claim an inconclusive investigation and go back to work with the Russians and any other country that wants a piece of the action on stealing the 2018 election so the GOP can hang on to power without scrutiny ...

McCain was back in AZ recovering from chemo and Cochran has been in and out of the hospital. If Sessions were to resign or be fired, I don't think McConnell has an effective majority to get a replacement confirmed.

STAND TO BE CORRECTED......
Reconfirmation of Pruitt to move from EPA to Atty. General WOULD be required.

--------------

Scott Pruitt will be moved from EPA - inter cabinet move - confirmation not needed.
(Assumption incorrect - re-confirmation would be required by the Senate.)

Now, it looks like something else may be afoot:

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt is reportedly interested in becoming President Trump’s attorney general, associates close to Pruitt told Politico.

------------

(snip)

Scott Pruitt, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, has told friends and associates that he’s interested in becoming attorney general, according to three people familiar with the internal discussions.

With rumors swirling that Jeff Sessions could depart the administration and two members of the House Freedom Caucus calling on the former Alabama senator to resign, Pruitt is quietly positioning himself as a possible candidate for the job.

Stewart and other republicans want Sessions to steer the investigation away from Trump and his collusion into finding how Democrats can be implicated for anything from election fraud to illegal funneling of cash into The Clinton Foundation. Then there's there's the emails...

That doesn't rise to the obvious obstruction that firing Mueller and ending the investigation brings, but changes the scope to looking into democrats. Sessions can't do that while he's recused.

Out of harms way.
This ridiculous house of cards is on the brink of collapse.
The emperor has no clothes on.
It will all happen following a pointless, protracted court case.
But, it's likely done.
My strongest hope is that the Dems have the spine to put this scum-
flake in jail for the evil and treason he brought us all.
Trump, too.
