The author of a new book that's loaded with explosive anecdotes of a disorganized and chaotic White House is backed up by "dozens of hours" of audio recordings of senior staff, according to a report.
Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, whose quotes triggered a firestorm at the White House on Wednesday, and former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Katie Walsh are among the top officials author and journalist Michael Wolff recorded for new book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, according to Axios.
he book chronicles the first year of the Donald Trump presidency. It sent the White House scrambling on Wednesday after excerpts were published in New York Magazine and The Guardian, leaving Trump furious, disgusted with Bannon, who is widely quoted embarrassing Trump and his family. Bannon called Trumps daughter and senior White House adviser Ivanka Trump dumb as a brick. He was also quoted disparaging Trumps son Donald Trump Jr., and his son-in-law Jared Kushner as treasonous and unpatriotic for a 2016 meeting with Russian operatives at Trump Tower in New York City, just one floor below the Trump campaign headquarters.
The White House issued a statement from Trump in which the president said his former adviser had "lost his mind."

(5,914 posts)I would think they would have sued already.
Trump's lawyers are not known to be particularly competent.

(13,340 posts)If they think they had a case, they'd file. No way a publisher backs down based on that weak-keed threat. They knew the book would piss off Trump and no doubt were not only prepared for this, but were hoping for it. It'll boost sales.

(61,709 posts)The people around the president were SO INCOMPETENT they allowed a writer to sit in the West Wing recording their conversations, day after day.

(4,575 posts)She was at the dinner, backed up Wolff's account and said Bannon refused alcohol and did not drink that night. Wolff's book along with the psychiatrist saying Orange is unraveling ain't looking good. I almost want to say they're coming for him. Roger Ailes widow is the one who told Wolff he could use the information. My first thought was Bannon was drunk AF when he said all this. According to Janice Min he was not. Color me shocked.
