House Intelligence chairman working on 'corruption' report in FBI: WaPost

Source: The Hill

BY IAN SWANSON - 12/25/17 08:07 AM EST

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) is talking with other Republicans about writing a report next year alleging “corruption” at the FBI, according to The Washington Post.

Citing people familiar with the plan, the Post reports that the Nunes project would focus on information about the conduct of FBI officials in the course of the investigation into Russia’s meddling in last year’s election.

President Trump and his allies in Congress have stepped up their attacks on the FBI as a former leader of the bureau, Robert Mueller, continues his special counsel investigation of last year’s election.

Mueller in December brought charges against Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who is now talking to investigators.

The first and most important of their tactics is to shut down the press. Our nation is under assault. Obama has warned us: Fascism is on the rise. Once again the so-called free press has let the American people down. They failed to challenge Trump playing the non-partisan roll thus allowing him and his henchmen and despicable sister creatures like Conway credibility. Trump is nothing more than a psychotic demagogue cut out of the same cloth as Hitler and Mussolini. Hopefully it is not too late. The Republican Party is nothing more than a collection of misfits and greedy money lovers. They will stop at nothing.

who will believe him? not the public at large, maybe a few of his dimmer cronies, but the real target is the armed Trumpist base. after federal law enforcement is identified as The Enemy and accused of staging a coup, the Trumpists will be encouraged and incited to purge their neighborhoods with impunity. Trump hasn't finished seizing power; to take it to the next level of autocracy, he needs to completely demolish the pre-existing order.

“There is a concerted push from the White House .?.?. and their allies to bring the investigations to a halt,” Rep. Adam B. Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said in an interview. “They are also trying to attack Mueller’s credibility and the credibility of the FBI, so that whatever Mueller finds can be rejected .?.?. as a fake.

“The White House would like to have the best of both worlds,” he added. “They make the public case that they are cooperating, while their allies do the dirty work.”

One leading critic is David Bossie, a former Trump deputy campaign manager. He was a congressional investigator who examined President Bill Clinton’s campaign finances in the late 1990s and currently leads Citizens United, a conservative advocacy group that produced movies critical of Hillary Clinton and other Democrats.

Bossie now makes frequent appearances on Fox News and other conservative media outlets, arguing that the special counsel is being used to try to delegitimize Trump. He said it is crucial to make a sustained fight against the probe.

The guy would not be doing this without orders from the WH....like when he had to run over there to warn the WH then make his little speech to the press earlier in the year.

There is little separation of powers anymore. Sessions takes orders from Trump and gleefully threatens Trump’s perceived enemies. No checks and balances from Congress.

I believe Trump already stated he thinks the FBI needs a major overhaul and purging of all agents not loyal to the administration (constitution be damned).

manage to find a position on the "Intelligence Committee"?? He is FAR from intelligent. Wasn't he caught sneaking reports to the WH, after dodging his security? He flunked that, yet he is still on that committee. What a joke. I wonder how much Russian money made its' way into his coffers?

This tactic isn't going to work. Rethugs have been preaching unquestioning loyalty, respect and honor for law enforcement for some time now, particularly since the advent of Black Lives Matter and the epitome of law enforcement in the minds of Rethug sheep is the FBI. Now, all of a sudden, they're a corrupt organization? Outside of shit gibbon's true believers, this just isn't going to gain much if any traction in right wing circles. Expect approval ratings in the high to mid 20's in the next few weeks, as support continues to fall away.

And Nunes better have an updated CV for 2018. He's going to need it.

What will happen if they end it now will only bolster the charges they'll face for conspiring, and obstruction against them, after so much more will be exposed they know , but are trying to keep hidden from the investigation. They will be facing time in the slammer for sure when they do this. I don't think they understand, they know what they're doing already, all of it. They too aren't above the law. These people in the GOP have become criminals before our eyes, and disgrace the Republican party with what they are doing.

I, unfortunately, do not share it. Any time a Republican stares down the barrel of prosecution, some incident comes along that distracts the entire world's attention from it.

I don't know what that's going to be, but I won't be surprised to see it.
