Sanders on report Trump told friends at Mar-a-Lago they 'just got a lot richer' after tax bill: He's finally telling the truth

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 12/24/17 11:01 AM EST

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said President Trump is finally "telling the truth" regarding a report that Trump told friends at his Mar-a-Lago resort after he signed the GOP tax bill that they all "just got a lot richer."

CBS News reported that Trump told friends at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida just hours after he signed the GOP tax bill that they all just got wealthier. "You all just got a lot richer," Trump said Friday at a dinner at Mar-a-Lago, two friends at a table near the president told CBS News.

Late last week, Trump signed the sweeping Republican tax bill into law, marking his first major legislative accomplishment since winning the White House.

Use this in an ad. Along side estimates of the added debt and tax increases and program cuts for the middle class, and loss of medical insurance and threats against SS and Medicare. Also I'd like to see ads with clips of all those tRump ass lickers back when they they were saying what an asshole he was. We need to to really highlight not just that Trump is a despicable liar, everyone knows that, and it doesn't seem to matter to the brainwashed Fox-adled cultists. We need to highlight the HYPOCRISY. We need to also not be afraid to exaggerate it to make a point. To be vicious to make a point. To insinuate unproven allegations to make a point. Yes....go low. But we can do both. Must do both. Remind Americans what they could have, and what Democrats have already brought them. But alternatively, run the most brutal ads against them as well.

If nothing else, the Republicans will show themselves for who they are. We'll determine that they don't care about cheating to win. We'll push them off their moral high ground and watch them fall into the annals of historical insignificance.

which of course I agree that in a perfect world we wouldn't have to, without the onslaught of RW fake news.

But one thing that the Rebublicans have been doing that is so effective is to, without direct lying, exagerate or conflate some minor faux pas into a mountain of monumental outrage. And what happens is that we have a whole news cycle where deer-in-headlights Dems come on and are confronted with these fake exagerations and bumble and mumble their way through interviews looking like they were caught with their hand in the cookie jar with all their "no we didn't!" They look guilty even if their was no crime. Dems seem to think that if they spend all day defending themselves against lies one day, then the next day will be their turn, after the lies are rebuffed. One problem; the Rethugs just open up a new can of lies and fake accusations and it puts the Dems right back into defensive mode. Rinse and repeat.

We should be exaggerating to make a point. But maybe thats the wrong word. Because you are right, the truth is not only stranger, but more deplorable than fiction. But its almost as if they are afraid to even speak too roughly. Some Dems think he might be "a good President" still. If we attack them, even using harsh language and innuendo and projection about a dark future etc, means that they, for a change, that are taking up all their airtime defending themselves, outraged that anyone would dare to go so far as to call them 'traitors' for instance. Have them foaming at the mouth stuttering over themselves looking like 'where there's smoke there's fire'.

We are lead by wealthy old people (I'm 72) that, at the end of the day, are quite comfortable with how the game is being played now. They are afraid of change that might mean they could be replaced by someone who would have the courage, intelligence, and charisma to really help America! Ain't gonna happen, Pelosi, Shumer, etc have been in office long enough to make it happen and we instead end up with losing everything.

tRump has friends. He has hangers on, people who lie to his face to keep him calm. I also think that the gop have been blackmailed. So many of them completely swiveled about this poor excuse for a human being. The gop was hacked, too, and their "secret lives" were reported to tRump. He has the goods on them all. It is the only explanation that makes sense. That disgusting exhibition of kissing his ass was proof of that. That is how J. Edgar Hoover kept his job at the FBI, blackmail. He even blackmailed Gerald Ford. Who knew about his adultery? J.Edgar, that's who.
