GOP chairman worried by Trump's stance on Russian interference

Source: The Hill

BY MORGAN CHALFANT - 12/17/17 06:00 AM EST

The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee says he is worried that President Trump has not issued an “outright condemnation” of Russia for meddling in the 2016 election.

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), who was widely viewed as a contender for Trump’s secretary of Homeland Security, told The Hill in a sit-down interview that he has told the administration the president needs to “more forcefully” stand up to Moscow. But, nearly one year into Trump’s administration, McCaul’s appeal has gone unanswered.

“I think there is a lot of, for whatever reason, avoidance of the issue, or saying that it could have been some other country. When you look at the intelligence, it is very clear the attribution goes directly to the Kremlin,” McCaul said. “That worries me.”

Trump has at times cast doubt on the intelligence community’s assessment that Russia sought to interfere in the election. He has also lashed out at the special counsel investigation into whether his campaign coordinated with Moscow, calling it a “witch hunt.”

Look who he chose to control the agencies. Look what as been done all ready to trash the agencies and set America back for decades. Look at the EPA and it criminal acts against America. Purging climate change for it agency. CDC now cannot use certain words. This is out of Putin playbook. Look how Trump is now pitting the FBI against local law enforcement. Look how Trump is trashing the media, calling them LIES and FAKE NEWS The actual fake news is from Trump. This is how other nations destroy Democacy, are the American people BLIND to Trump actions? He has the Republicans supporting him, yet he trashes those that speak or vote against them. Trump has trash some of the most intelligent people in America. Look at his nominees for Judges? They are most unfit, but this is his mission to destroy our Courts and Justice system.
