People ‘in line’ for ACA coverage can finish enrolling later
Sam Baker 8 mins ago

People who are “in line” to sign up for insurance through HealthCare.gov by the end of the day today will be allowed to finish the process later, the Health and Human Services Department says.

Why it matters: The last day of open enrollment tends to be especially busy, and in the past, some consumers haven’t been able to make it all the way through the process before the end of the day. HHS’ standard practice has been to let those consumers to finish up later, but but the department hadn’t said definitively until today whether that practice would continue this year.

Today is the last day to sign up for Obamacare in the US. Here’s how

The federal Obamacare enrollment window for 2017 is almost over: The federal government has cut in half the length of time people have to purchase insurance policies on the marketplace; coupled with a drastic reduction in outreach funding, that’s likely to result in lower enrollment rates compared with previous years.

Across the US, today is the last day to enroll to benefit from coverage beginning Jan. 1. A few states, however, will give their citizens the opportunity to enroll after that date, and get coverage beginning on Feb.1 and Mar. 1.

Minnesota (mnsure.org) - enroll by Dec 20 for coverage beginning Jan 1. Enroll by January 14 (last day of any kind of open enrollment) for coverage starting Feb 1.

California ( https://www.coveredca.com/apply/ ) Open enrollment for health coverage in 2018 is happening now and will end on Jan. 31, 2018. If you want your coverage to start on Jan. 1, 2018 you must select a plan by the end of Friday, Dec. 22. )

This is just 2 of several examples of state ACA exchanges with later open enrollment deadlines
