LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) Arkansas lawmakers have approved the rules for a new measure expanding where concealed handguns are allowed, rejecting concerns that it would allow students to keep guns in dorms or could infringe on Second Amendment rights.
The Legislative Council approved the rules Friday for carrying out the law, which allows people with concealed handgun licenses to carry at college campuses, government buildings and some bars if they undergo additional training. The council is the Legislature's main governing body when lawmakers aren't in session.
Some lawmakers said the rules allowing guns in dorm rooms if they're kept within arm's reach of the licensee conflict with the law's intent. Some GOP lawmakers also complained that any limits on gun rights aren't constitutional.

And, yes, in this instance I am looking for confirmable media accounts.
P.S.: I'm going to set the over/under on the first appearance of an account of illegal gun carriage/use passed off as legal carriage/use at the twentieth post.
The pearl claspers seem to be fond of faith-promoting rumor,
and I expect an account of a 'legal' gun owner (who actually wasn't) doing something stupid and/or criminal to appear in short order.
Let's see how long that takes, shall we?
Then (as now), the subject attracted lots of shouting, handwaving, posturing, Colonism...
Terry Pratchett, Jingo

Washington, Utah, and Alaska have had this for over a decade, so there is now 30+ years of data
to be had as to whether the practice is problematic as regards to actual crimes vs. gut feelings.
The question reposted upthread remains as yet unanswered.

Me? I hate guns and favor total confiscation. And yes, I understand that won't happen.

(25,862 posts)in my opinion. It's just that they are so under the thrall of the NRA that they don't fully understand what can happen. With any luck at all several of them will lose children to guns. I know that sounds harsh, but maybe, just maybe if they suffered a loss because of their willingness to have guns everywhere but where they work they'll then understand how wrong that is.

There is a certain precedent. In 1837, the Speaker of the Arkansas House stabbed a representative on the House floor.
