Polish officials says Putin responsible for 2010 plane crash

Source: AP via WaPo

WARSAW, Poland — Poland’s defense minister says a plane crash that killed the nation’s president in 2010 in Russia was preceded by two explosions on board, calling on Russian President Vladimir Putin to “take responsibility for what happened.”

Antoni Macierewicz was reacting Thursday to words by Putin, who denied any explosions on board and called on Poland to stop investigating for any potential Russian role in the crash that killed Poland’s President Lech Kaczynski and 95 others in western Russia.

Macierewicz heads a commission re-investigating the crash and alleges it was preceded by two explosions, which he says would suggest Russia played a role.

Macierewicz said in a radio interview that Putin “should have the courage to take responsibility for what has happened.”

The Putin regime is obviously not reliable, but neither is Poland's government -- also far right and authoritarian.

... "and, it was so long ago that he caused it that it no longer matters. And, he won an election since then, so that's the same as being found Not Guilty".

So there.

It makes no sense for the Russian government to explode a plane less than 100 feet above the ground and only a few hundred yards from the runway making it easy to find evidence of explosive devices on the ground. The pilots were warned ahead of time of the poor weather and heavy fog in the area and told to postpone the trip, but for political purposes they were told to make the trip anyway and clipped trees as they descended to make their landing at a poorly lit airbase.

Makes no sense based on circumstances. Plane crushed during landing, there was poor weather and visibility.
