Roy Moore says Alabama election 'tainted' by outside groups

Source: BBC

Roy Moore says he will not accept defeat in Alabama's election, arguing the vote was "tainted" by outside groups trying to stay in power.

In a four-minute video on YouTube, the hardline Republican lashed out after Democrat Doug Jones claimed victory in Tuesday's election.

Mr Moore railed against gay rights, abortion, and "the right of a man to claim to be a woman and vice versa".

...

The election race, he claimed, was "tainted by over $50 million from outside groups who want to retain power and their corrupt ideology".

On Monday night, in Jordan’s Activity Barn, they had the last rally on behalf of Judge Roy Moore, the Republican candidate in Tuesday’s special election to replace Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III in the United States Senate. The whole event was lousy with pestiferous Bible-banging. Both reality and American history were fed into individual woodchippers. The theme of the night’s devotions was that Nobody Comes Into Alabama And Tells Us How To Vote. This theme was emphasized by the night’s roster of speakers, which included: a carbuncled vandal from Virginia (Steve Bannon); a failed congressional candidate from Wisconsin (Paul Nehlen); a disgraced sheriff from Wisconsin (David Clarke, Jr.), and a sitting congressman from Texas (Louie Gohmert). They all took turns bashing all the rank outsiders who came into Alabama to campaign for Doug Jones, the Democratic nominee.

Up was down. Down was up. Thomas Paine, of all people, was enlisted in the cause of an out-and-out theocrat, and the person who did so quoted him from the wrong pamphlet anyway. Abraham Lincoln was invoked repeatedly on behalf of a neo-Confederate who speculated that the Constitution might be improved by removing the amendments passed immediately after the Civil War. Moore was defended against the allegations of child molestation by an old Army buddy who told a story about how they all were taken to a brothel in Vietnam one night and Moore refused to pay for sex with prostitutes who may have been underage. Res ipse loquitur, y’all, and the adoring crowd drank it all down like so much apple brandy.

it's a bit dangerous too. When you set yourself up to accept so much on faith it seems you would need to be careful about drawing some boundaries to that. Some of these evangelists, or fanatics or whatever they are are just so easily manipulated. Just carry a Bible around it seems and you can do no wrong.

A gem, describing the venue for this madness:

" On Monday night, however, it played host of one of the most incredible displays of weaponized absurdity that it has been my privilege to witness. On the other hand, the fiddle player was quite good."

votes and not counting votes at multiple precincts in 4 states, and Hillary had won the election which she did (there is NO way more people voted for him than her in those 4 states, sorry) Trump once he realized he had lost would have told his followers to go to the streets and commit violence.

For sure.

He would have worded it slightly different than that but he would have wanted a civil war and he would have made it clear they were to start one.

This would benefit him because he is nuts and his boss Putin, in fact that may have been Putin's most desired outcome, actually.

In his mind the election was stolen from him! All of those African Americans who refused to stay home, who stood in line for hours to vote, who refused to vote at the 'Colored Only' places where their votes weren't counted.

Yeah, the election was stolen from him by something he refused to believe in. It is called "Democracy" and it is a beautiful thing.

Coward, who can't accept the fact that a majority of his fellow citizens in Alabama didn't fall for his wholesale lies and take down of all groups who do not fit into his scheme of things. Pathetic.

He offers no congrats to Mr. Jones, nor does he offer any help or aid to Mr. Jones to address issues affecting the everyday voter in AL.

He offers no other constructive insights into issues that may impact his fellow citizens (at least none that I know of).

He's been thrown out of office a couple of times due to his unconstitutional actions.

For someone who preaches God etc., he sure is awful hateful. Unwholesome.

Talking about outside interests interfering w/ AL elections...what about the $ that the repugs sent in? Hypocrite!!

The race you were in was for the United States Senate; not the Alabama Senate. Outside groups have every right to participate in national elections (particularly) as your vote in the Senate would have affected all Americans.

P.S. Roy, you really need to learn to ride Sassy the right way. Your riding skills suck, and as the daughter of a real Texas cowboy who actually trained horses, you should be shot for the way you were jerking that horse's mouth around.
