Sen.-elect Doug Jones (D-Ala.) said on Thursday he is not going to enter the debate over when he should be seated in time for a vote on tax reform, saying he is going to let developments "play out."
"I'm going to just let that play out. I really don't have a position on that. You know, with the holidays and everything going on, this is a big deal. I want to make sure it's done right. So let's just see how it plays out," Jones told NBC's Savannah Guthrie on NBC's "Today" show.
Jones's comments come amid a push by Democrats for the newly elected senator to be seated in the chamber before a vote on the legislation that would overhaul the country's tax code.
"We Senate Democrats are calling on Mitch McConnell to hit pause on his tax bill and not hold a final vote until Doug Jones is sworn into the Senate," Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said on Wednesday.

(35,688 posts)He should be more aggressive about representing his constituents.
On the other hand, there's no point in waving a red flat in Mitch McConnell's face.

(11,843 posts)could be seated...
Surely, he wouldn't do that, would he?
I do have a irrational desire to slam a fist in Mitch McConnell's face...

(25,111 posts)GOPers are the bullies and think they are GAWD's chosen people. Just hear Roy Moore. What Roy Moore believes is what majority of the GOPers believe. Moore will not concede because their GAWD would never allow a Dems to win.

(7,432 posts)Jones should be suing the GOP over their foot-dragging, and he should be citing Constitutional law as supreme. The Constitution doesn't allow for political maneuvering in this matter, but Jones is setting precedent by not going ballistic. McConnell has done enough damage with no repercussions.

He doesn't probably care that much abut Jones, he's got to get that through before Mueller takes down Chump.
The seeds are being sown for the next Great Depression, and the rest of us can't be allowed to interfere.
Once that happens they'll drop Chump like a rock, and Paul Ryan will step down as Speaker.
They know the damage of their plans won't kick in until Dems are back in control, and they can just blame everything on them.
Nice and neat, or so they think.
