Pence delays Israel trip over GOP tax bill

Vice President Pence has reportedly delayed his trip to the Middle East by three days due to the GOP’s tax legislation efforts.

The Jerusalem Post reported that Pence will land in Israel on Wednesday of next week, rather than on Sunday, so he may partake in a vote on tax reform should Senate Republicans need him to break a tie. Before the change of plans, Pence had been planning to visit the Western Wall and address the Knesset.

The House and Senate have reached a deal “in principle” on the tax cut overhaul in a conference over the chambers' two bills.

GOP leadership has said the party has the votes to pass the bill next week, a timeline that would give President Trump a big legislative win before the New Year.
