Rep. Speier: Trump has shown a 'predilection for misogyny'

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) on Tuesday condemned President Trump’s tweet claiming Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) “would do anything” for a campaign contribution, calling his behavior “unbefitting the president of the United States.”

“He has shown a predilection for misogyny in the past. The way he treats women, the way he talked about women on ‘Access Hollywood’ suggests that he sees them as just toys, and those who he can play with and even torment,” Speier said on MSNBC.

“I think that it’s going to have a significant impact on his presidency, and I don’t think he knows the thin ice that he is operating under right now,” she added.

The White House on Tuesday denied that Trump's tweet was a sexist attack, saying the president was accusing Gillibrand of being “controlled by contributions."
