RNC official from Nebraska quits over group's financial support of Roy Moore...

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Joseph Morton

WASHINGTON — The Nebraska Republican Party will select a replacement next month for Joyce Simmons, who resigned Monday as Nebraska’s Republican National Committeewoman because of the RNC’s financial support of Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore.

Simmons declined a World-Herald interview request.

She e-mailed other Republican party officials on Monday to inform them that she had submitted her resignation Friday to RNC Chair Ronna McDaniels, citing the RNC decision to support Moore.

“I strongly disagree with the recent RNC financial support directed to the Alabama Republican Party for use in the Roy Moore race. There is much I could say about this situation, but I will defer to this weekend’s comments by Senator Shelby,” Simmons wrote. “I will miss so many of you that I knew well; and wish I could have continued my service to the national Republican Party that I used to know well.”
