3 Men Accused Of Kansas Mosque Bomb Plot Ask Judge For Pro-Trump Jurors

Source: Associated Press

By ROXANA HEGEMAN Published DECEMBER 11, 2017 11:23 AM

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Three men accused of plotting to bomb a mosque and apartment complex housing Somali refugees asked a federal judge Friday to include prospective jurors from rural western Kansas because they are twice as likely to have voted for President Donald Trump.

A defense motion argues that plans to only summon citizens in the more urban counties closest to the federal courthouse in Wichita is a discriminatory practice that excludes rural and conservative jurors. The trial begins March 19.

Gavin Wright, Patrick Stein and Curtis Allen are charged with conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction and conspiracy against civil rights for allegedly planning to detonate truck bombs in the meatpacking town of Garden City the day after the November 2016 election. Wright also faces a charge of lying to the FBI. The three men, who were indicted in October 2016, have pleaded not guilty.

“This case is uniquely political because much of the anticipated evidence will center around, and was in reaction to, the 2016 Presidential election,” defense attorneys wrote.

that the law permits, but hoo boy, these lawyers are sure stretching that concept. And it doesn't speak well for Trumpists, when you think you need them on the jury in order for your white-supremacist domestic terrorist clients to get a fair trial. "They also argued the case will require jurors to weigh whether the alleged conduct constitutes a crime or whether it is constitutionally protected speech and assembly and the right to bear arms." Seriously? Plotting to bomb a mosque and an apartment complex full of refugees is an exercise of free speech? Is the federal public defenders' office scraping the bottom of the barrel, or underneath the barrel? I thought they hired lawyers who at least managed to pass the bar exam on their eleventh try.

out proudly in front of the double wide when he was arrested. These FUCKS are TERRORISTS plain and simple and need to do serious time.

It's an apartment building which also serves as a mosque for these Somalians. They were going to park a truck with explosives at the four corners and level the building. There are at least 100+ living there many of the children. These are your Trump voters.

The jurors are interviewed and any biases can disqualify them, pro or anti the defendant.

And, this is just disgusting. "Hey, we committed terrorism, but people who like the President are likely to be more sympathetic to hate against Islam, can we have them please?"

Stein’s former attorney told the court in an earlier hearing that his client believed then-President Barack Obama would declare martial law and not recognize the validity of the election if Trump won, forcing militias to step in.

They no doubt could also be Klansmen, as the Klan has been strong in Western Kansas, sparsely populated, rural. They undoubtedly relished the idea of attacking workers who were not only Muslim, but African.

Hateful, evil, unforgivable, ignorant babies.

They need to go away for the rest of their lives for conspiring to murder the Somalian people who went to Western Kansas to work hard, at a miserable job, for far less than they were worth.

Even if they pack the jury with rural voters, planning to bomb a building SHOULD get you sent to prison.
