Sam Seder: MSNBC has 'no value' if it can't find context for Polanski tweet

Source: The Hill

Former MSNBC contributor Sam Seder said Tuesday that the network made a mistake cutting ties with him over a joke he tweeted in 2009 about director Roman Polanski, saying it allowed far-right activist Mike Cernovich to determine his fate.

"I've had thousands of tweets since 2009. There was context for those tweets. If they can't make that assessment, if making that assessment is a bridge too far, they have no value as a news organization," Seder told CNN.

...

More people need to be aware of Cernovich's tactics, Seder told CNN, adding that he hopes he can be a cautionary tale.

"If you decide to let this guy be the arbiter of what is and is not appropriate, understand who he is," Seder said.

Especially when it's taken out of context and therefore can be presented as something it was never meant to be.

It's pretty disappointing of MSNBC, but ... we seem determined to continue to eat our own in search of absolute moral purity when it comes to anything having to do with sex.

It's going to be shown to be an even MORE brilliant stratagem when Moore is elected to Senate ... and Franken gets pushed out.

But on the other hand ... it was 1969.

It was different times, with different values, and a very different set of 'known facts'.

So I honestly enquire: Is there evidence this sort of behavior has continued on Polanski's part in the nearly 50 years hence?

And assuming the answer to be 'no', only because I've never heard the contrary ... I just wonder ... can a person EVER 'do enough time' ... for a grave mistake in their past such as this, in your eyes?

IOW, can they EVER become something OTHER than ... a 'child molester' ... as long as they live?

Asking because I'm honestly curious.

Next up, O'Donnell & Maddow, fired because of whatever nonsense "reasons."

Fuck MSNBC, they are garbage and firing Sam shows it of course.

The fascist firing spree of males in public positions over "offenses" however trite and fake is just the current successful wave of Mcarthyism that is helping the oligarchy's agenda.

Not sure what the peasants can really do but raise awareness while we still can (have access to free internet, that is.)

Just be aware of the reality I suppose. Keep your head down, struggle and survive somehow, escape if you can. Support each other and don't fall for the lies.

Don't fall for the emotional traps to fight the other peasants, we are all in this together, etc.

Such bullshit Sam, sorry they fucked you over!!

Seder is getting shafted based on cherry-picked material from someone who operates in the Atwater-O'Keefe sphere of ratfuckery.

It's pathetic how easily some can be duped and cornered.
