Democrats Erupt In Anger After Corrupt Tax Bill Passes The Senate

Source: Huffington Post

Democratic senators unleashed their anger on Twitter after Republicans voted to pass their tax bill through the Senate shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Senate Republicans voted to pass the controversial bill, a rewrite of the current tax code, after senators debated the bill all day Friday. Democrats, who maintain that the bill unfairly benefits only the very wealthy, had received a final copy of the nearly 500-page bill just hours before the vote took place.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) attempted to push a vote on the bill to Monday so Democrats would have enough time to read it thoroughly. Republicans voted against the delay.

Many Democratic senators said they weren’t able to read the entire draft of the tax rewrite, which contained handwritten notes and crossed-out pages, ahead of the vote. Others promised they would keep fighting against the bill, which still needs to be reconciled with the House version before it becomes law.

... on their arguments that there was no difference between Hillary and the Con.

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2017/nov/26/susan-sarandon-i-thought-hillary-was-very-dangerous-if-shed-won-wed-be-at-war

Still, I think while there was vast political error on both sides, the inability of Sarandon and her ilk to embrace the lesser of two evils permitted the greater of the two evils to rise. And yet I like Sarandon. It takes real courage to go against the mob. Her inconsistencies are a little wild, but in the age of social-media enforced conformity, I have never met anyone so uninterested in toeing the line.

Did she really say that Hillary was more dangerous than Trump?

“Not exactly, but I don’t mind that quote,” she says. “I did think she was very, very dangerous. We would still be fracking, we would be at war [if she was president]. It wouldn’t be much smoother. Look what happened under Obama that we didn’t notice.”

It seems absurd to argue that healthcare, childcare, taxation for the non-rich wouldn’t be better now under President Clinton, and that’s before we get to the threat of deportation hanging over millions of immigrants. “She would’ve done it the way Obama did it,” says Sarandon, “which was sneakily. He deported more people than have been deported now. How he got the Nobel peace prize I don’t know. I think it was very important to have a black family in the White House and I think some of the stuff he did was good. He tried really hard about healthcare. But he didn’t go all the way because of big pharma.”

...if--as seems certain--Trump is exposed as a traitor, the GOP Congress does nothing about it, and they gerrymander a 54-45% loss in the popular vote for Congress into a majority. At that point, more and more people will feel that our "democracy" is a sham, and they will feel they have nothing to lose. God help the USA then.

I admit I am doing the making of an ASS of U and Me, but...

The logical response to a travesty of representational government is to throw off the bonds that that have shackled true democracy.

If Dump doesn't pay a fair tax and if lobbyists/government officials/corporatists all hide their gains from the tax collectors, than why should we pay for their evasions?

I certainly hope that those that can wield true power (the military) will be rational and uphold their allegiance to the Constitution.

I have to question the apparently strategy of just sit tight and give the Republicans a long rope to hang.

Or actively debate and propose different legislation.

Sure, the deploarbles will blame Democrats until they die for lack of adequate health care, but it will have to be fighting in the trenches, in the streets, in coffee shops of small towns.

We need to have credible candidates who will visit a dying person and will point the finger at the Republican incumbent and say: this is his/her fault.

And guess what? The Pukes are going to blame the Democrats (and Obama and Benghazi and Her Emails) even if they are 110% responsible themselves for shutting down the government.

Given that, Shumer and Pelosi may as well shove it up McConnell's ass sideways - what the HELL do they have to lose?

"They go low, we go high" isn't working out very well, in case you'd lost the thread this past week.

They want to run this place like the Reichstag in 1933? So be it - burn it down.

Unless the House takes the Senate bill, makes no changes to it, and passes it, then whatever "version" comes out of the joint House-Senate committee as a "reconciled" version, will have to be voted on AGAIN by both chambers.
