Health experts turn up their noses at new school lunch rule
Source: nbcnews.com
The U.S. Agriculture Department released a new school lunch rule Wednesday that would let cafeterias skip the whole grains and serve salty food, as well as sweetened milk.
Health experts gave the new rule an F and said a return to unhealthy standards is not the way to get kids to eat better.
The USDA included similar rules in May as part of temporary budget legislation. Wednesdays announcement would solidify the rules.

Of course, also, a thumb in the noses of the granola-eatin' liberals ...
Oh, and no doubt somehow Obama is associated with the healthier standards in Trumps mind, ergo, the standards had to go.
Also a way to cut costs, they'll just give the kids PBJ's on Wonder Bread and generic potato chips as 'school lunch' and offer 'Pizza and Hot Dog Day' ... (where generally the kids have to pay extra to eat this junk food) EVERYDAY ...

Anything Obama did must be reversed, to erase him from History.

(51,627 posts)I taught first grade and every day (AM calendar routine) we read the breakfast and lunch menu. The only thing on it that was healthy was the salad bar without dressing and fresh fruit (which they threw out). With each item my kids had to give a thumbs up or down based on the nutritional ingredients. Salt, sugar and oil were in everything. The district was full of BS when I went to a school board meeting, as I always did, and the board acted so high and mighty when they announced that only Pepsi would be sold in the schools' vending machines thereby limiting the choice of high sugar drinks available. Someone asked why they chose Pepsi...turns out that Pepsi had a better contract than Coke and paid the district the most money. When asked why did they offer any at all they were silent. Schools are a business and do NOT let anyone tell you otherwise. I learned quickly that the kids don't count...money does. That is the bottom line.
