Report: Trump Paid Over $1 Million to Settle Polish Workers' Lawsuit

Source: The Daily Beast

President Trump quietly paid $1.375 million in 1998 to settle a class-action labor lawsuit filed by undocumented Polish workers who helped demolish a site for Trump Tower, The New York Times reports. Citing documents recently unsealed after a judge ruled that the public has a right to know of a case involving the “now-president of the United States,” the report says Trump’s payment covered lawyers’ fees and expenses of the laborers, while $500,000 of the overall sum went to a union benefits fund. The laborers were reportedly paid as little as $4 an hour while working 12-hour shifts without hard hats, gloves, or masks to demolish the Bonwit Teller building in 1980. The settlement came after 15 years of litigation, and details were only made public after Time Inc. and the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press filed a motion to unseal the deal’s terms. Trump, who has vehemently railed against illegal immigration, reportedly testified prior to the settlement that he had no idea “illegal aliens” were employed on site.

mainly for Mar-A-Lago. Probably mistreating them, too. Low wages, long hours. This practice should be stopped. His sons, Beavis and Butthead are advertising for foreign workers for their wine growing operation in California. Runs in the family. None have worked a day in their lives, yet work others to the bone on the cheap. Princess Ivanka keeps her misdeeds overseas, while she has slave workers duplicating other people's designs with her name on them. Not an ounce of CLASS in the entire grifting group..

quite a bit of it reported by the local NY media. Yet it makes absolutely no difference to those invested in hurting others by using him as part of their "revenge" strategy. He is like a multipurpose "tool" designed to bludgeon, hammer, cut, slice, dice, and smash anything and anyone around him who chooses to use him to do those things.

This is probably the only true thing he has ever said -

early a Sunday AM, about 30 men laying the base sand/ gravels, grading then the rebarb 'weave' work..the road work progressed past my house. That "crew" worked by hand, very dusty hard work. wearing street clothes, not many had gloves, not one wore masks, a few used a bandanna over mouth.

The bosses of these projects, head contractors- should pay out of their own profit stuffed pockets every human they exploited.

Why was this not brought up before the election? There have been so many stories, that have come out after the election, about things that Donald Trump said during the election that were not true, or misleading. Why were these stories not pursued and published before the election? These stories might have been helpful before the election. It is nice to get the information now, but it likely would have been better to get the information before the election.
